But the 996r only won once, and that was against 750cc's. It was trounced by the sp1/2 either side......... whats that make the 999r that has won twice and against 1000cc's?

For a thread that wasn't having a pop at the later range of bikes you sure do seem prety sensitive about it and quick to defend them Andy!!

Got a complex mate? Or just wishing you never got rid of yours?

Ive got a feeling they are going to put the 996r engine in that 999 touring frame, that should elevate them to top spot.:D

When someone posts "there is no better bike", i can respect their opinion, but are you saying it cannot be challenged?

I think its fair to move with the times. Why do we have to have this continual banging on about a bike that is now 5 years old?

The popularity of a model in the majority of the Ducati-world is nothing to do with looks or success, but down to affordability.

Take the 749r, is that successful? (even good looking?) no, but it is/was a reasonable price, so it becomes popular.

It is in essence the same bike as a 999r, give or take 20-30bhp....and £4-5000. But there is a distinct difference in attitude to the two bikes.

As an ex top of the range ducati bike falls down the price range, like the 996r has done, it becomes more open to the masses, hence more popular.

"Ive got a feeling they are going to put the 996r engine in that 999 touring frame, that should elevate them to top spot." Er..........know your onions!

Stop all of this elevation of the 996R - those that know, know - those that don't and chose to be critical - let them.

You're only helping to raise the prices and I'm trying to buy one!!!! ;)

So stop it now !!!! Its the worst bike in the world and they're worth about £3000 tops !!!! ;)

Nelly thought it was the timing sensor that was playing up, but he took her out for a blast the other day and after an hour turned it off, when he started he up again back firing, cutting out you name it. missing her with all this good weather. Just have to wait for nelly to solve the problem.:(

Andy Andy Andy. Where did I say anything about ranting? Where did I say you weren't allowed to challenge? You're just proving my point about being over-sensitive.

This thread was 2 posts in, and only posting articles about the 996R - no-ones had a pop at any later models and you've jumped with a rolleye's. So which one is it? Complex or wishing you never got rid of it? :D
