After the high of the BMF show, looks like my season could be over:(:( I noticed a bit of vibration on the T8 when riding to the show on the friday, didn`t mention it to anyone and I forgot about it completely when they told us we`d won:)
The bike stalled when leaving Monday and vibrated quite severely most of the way home, numb hands all round.Taking it to Carl Harrison at the weekend for a more professional examanation, but I`m fearing the worst:(:(:sniff::sniff:

Noooooooooo!!!! You deserve better than that after all the work you've done!!

I hope it isn't as grim as it could be.

Good luck Graham!

Got a horrible feeling it`s the mains:sniff::sniff: Doesn`t seem down on power, could be something simple like a loose clutch or flywheel, but I`m being pessimistic, so if it is something simple I`ll be happy.

I'm sure it will be fine - take Dr TP's advice. Lay down on the couch in front of the TV - preferably in front of a MotoGP season review or something similar. Take several hundred beers orally and don't call me in the morning!

:D

Aargh NO,NO,NO,NO!!!
Mate, what are the symptoms?Rumbling under load?Oil light coming on at tickover? If so,its the mains,I'm afraid.:(
Bad vibes can be loose engine mounts or knackered chain/clutch.
Keep us informed, fingers crossed for ya.

Graham, **** thats not good news.

I'm sure it'll be fine, at least hopefully not too expensive!!

No oil light on chaps, not even when it`s struggling to tick over when it`s cold below 1000rpm.Checked engine mounts and they seem ok.The chain is new so it`s not that.I`m hoping clutch,I`ve done 8000miles on it and haven`t touched the clutch.I know it`s an alloy(998)one and it was fitted a year before I bought the bike,so it`s probably got 10000+miles on it.Can`t hear no abnormal noises/rumbles/whines etc,but you can`t hear yourself think when it`s running anyhow:o Really quietens down when you pull the clutch in thou.It vibrates more than normal antway cos` the pipes are not rubber mounted:o:o

Wheelspin is taking it to Carls tomorrow with his,but he`s snowed under at the mo'

just have to wait and see:(

Yeah, let's see what the "Guru" has to say. I'm hoping it's something simple and cheap (insert your own joke) so you can show me round Snetterton.

I wish, there`s no difference where you are in the rev range,as you increase thr revs, the vibration increases at the same amount:( It`s gone to Carls now(thanks Mark)so I`ll have to wait and see.

Cheers mate,I`d like to get it back for Snetterton, but if it`s terminal/expensive it`ll have to wait.I`ve got the "Narfuk boys do Cataluyna" trip in a couple of weeks so I need me beer tokens;)
Chin up,thats the mottos of the winners:D

Took the 996 to Carl's for a 12k service and found out I need a new clutch basket etc and a couple of rockers. :(

I'm gutted to say the least as I thought the bike was working ok. Probably caught somat from sparkins bike whilst in the van.

Bad news mate.Could be something simple(hopefully) like the alternator nut coming loose. When my flywheel went walkabout there were alot more symptoms than just vibratation!Like the flames licking out of the bike!

Any news yet mate? Hope it's not too serious. Again, you can always use my bike for trackdays, cos you know I'm banned until after August 6th.

I know it's only a scabby old ST2 but it seems to keep up with your 888 :frog:

Spoke to Carl tonight,he`s going to whip the clutch off and have a look at that, alternator and flywheel seems ok drop the oil out and have it analysed, carbon deposits, white metal, etc, etc, etc.Still to early to say what is actually wrong
I`m still on a high from the BMF weekend at the moment:D so a few weeks away from the bike and with the family won`t do any harm(not sure if the wife would agree thou):lol:
Got Cataluyna looming,WSB on the telly, lots to do around the house,so not to fussed at the mo' It`s you guys who I feel sorry for, with no Sparkin in your lifes:lol::lol:
Thanks for the offer J:rodent::rodent:ls 80% rider and 20% bike is the answer to that you hoooooligan! Can`t remember you passing me at Rocky thou........oh, I know why,I was still in the garages while it was raining:lol::lol::lol:

Got the T8 back now after the oil has been tested and Carls had a good look round and ride it.The oil test showed no major faults:D slight trace of brass, possibly valve guide and seal wear after 25000 miles, but other wise it seems ok.There is slight play in the clutch bearing, but nothing major so weather permiting I'm going to try and get out on it the weekend with Rooney and Dodgy and ride it at it's normal pace:devil:
This may sound stupid(yes I know I sound stupid all the time!)but when I noticed it I was wearing different kit ie goves, corduro etc and trundling home nackered from the BMF at considerably less rpm than I normally ride.So it could be a case of "Stupid Sparkin" :( but if thats the case it`s a lot cheaper!!
