I have finally managed to buy a Ducati tank protector for my 998.

Question: I would like to cut the centre section out so that I`m left with the tank end that goes over the rear of the tank and around the filler cap and the key fob part.

Have any of you chaps done this and if so how easy, or hard is it to do and end up with a clean cut! Can it be done with scissors as its so thin or would I have to use a Dremmel tool!.

Any advice would be appreciated.

just saw it with hacksaw, and dress it up with a file, taking care not to catch the file on the front shiny bit of the carbon.

It is thin enough to cut with sturdy scissors, but not neatly.

I cut it in half with scissors to make it easier to handle, put masking tape on where I wanted make the final cut and marked with pencil, and then used a Dremel with cutting disc. Even with a Dremel I used fine grade wet&dry to finish the edges.
