My 1999 900ss is still under the weather....
I changed the fuel filter and shes still hesitating when I scream the throttle off the line.
she feels like shes not getting fuel/power.....but only when I gun it off the line...
If I ride smoothly & slow she runs okay....but who wants to run smoothly....!!!?
I'm going to try the plug wires next.....does anyone know what brand of premium wires I can get?
& how many mm?
I also wany to put the best plugs on ?
any suggestions?
thanks
joe

Hmmmmm....not exhaustive by any means but heres some things I've found in the past:

1) Water in the fuel tank
2) Water in the Carb bowls
3) Crud/deposits in the fuel lines (and the extra fuel filters on the Carb bodies themselves)
4) Carbs out of balance
5) Worn carb internals - Emulsion tubes and needles appear to be favourite.

Plugs - well I've tried NGK Platinum plugs and found a 'slight' improvement but they were almost £10 each (there are some on Ebay for about £8) or try:

www.sparkplugs.co.uk

Leads: I imported some from the USA (again via the dreaded Ebay) and cant say I noticed any improvement.

Good luck - Frank

I had the exact same problem but on a Yamaha I used to own.
It turned out it was a blob of dried paint in one of the fuel pipes which restricted the flow of fuel. It was fine on low revs but after a blast the restricted flow wasn't enough to keep it running until enough fuel had built up in the float bowls again.
Don't know how it got there but I assume it had been inside the fuel tank and gradually washed down the pipes until it got stuck.
