Hi All ,
I have recently purchased a 2004 999s and am new to the Ducati brand .
I guess i will be asking a few questions from here on in .
Here goes with the first .
The bike has what i presume is the ducati alarm and fob (small black round fob ) what i would like to know is if the alarm can be put in "maintenance mode" so that when working on the bike the alarm is disabled .
Any ideas any one ?

Does it look like this

http://abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarmshop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=97

If so it's a Meta Alarm

I don't think they have a service mode. They do have a ferry mode which disables the movement sensor. Press and hold the button down and you will get some extra lights and beeps to say it's activated
