Will 999 shock fit 996?

It looks the same but I'm unsure about the length/mounting holes etc

Just measured a 749 shock which is the typical Ducati 305mm as used on 916 and Monster range, 10mm mounts both end and the width of the mounts top and bottom are 22.7mm

Looks to me as though it would fit, just a slightly different angle on the reservoir by the looks of it
