35 years and it's hard to remember them all now and in what order and sometimes I had 2 or 3 bikes at the same time, but roughly;

'60 Ariel Arrow Super Sports
'57 BSA Road Rocket
2 or 3 assorted '50's BSA A10s
'55 BSA DB34 Gold Star Tourer
'5? Norton Dominator 600
'50 BSA ZB32 Gold Star Clubmans
'60 Velocette Viper
'58 BSA DBD34 Goldstar Clubmans
'37 Norton 500 Manx
'55 Ariel VH 350
'76 Ducati 860GTS (The only bike I ever bought brand new)
'75 Honda 500F
'78 Ducati 900SS
'75 Honda SL125
another '75 Honda SL125
'81 Honda CB250RS
'79 Moto Guzzi V50II
'95 Ducati 900SS
'03 Ducati ST4s

Youll note that the early ones were nearly all british so I'm well used to getting my hands dirty. My bikeing slowed down a little through the '80s while the kids were growing up but I never stopped, I just kept the bikes a bit longer.

30 years riding.

Last time i did a list of bikes i could remember it was about 70 i think.

everything from Honda CB125, CB250, Z250, Superdream.

3 Honda CX 500's 4 BMW's 2 Pan Euro's and numerous other despatch bikes over the last 25 years, (the worst being a Kwak GT550 and a Suzuki GN400, both of which were absolute crap).

Sportier bikes as they were at the time CB 750, CB900, GS 750, GS1000, Katana 1100, Kawa GPZ900.

Sports Tourers 3 VFR's 3 Triumphs, Firestorm, Yam FJ1200

Big Trail bikes, BM 1100GS. Varadero

20 real dirt bikes.

The odd pile of old British scrap.

5 Ducatis ST4, ST4s, Multi, 996SPS, 996R.

Thanks guys for all the posting, I love this question, I also think tells you a lot about peoples tastes in bikes.

I know that I'm now sticking with Ducati for the long haul, I also think that so long as I can afford too I would like to keep my bikes from now on.

At least the 748 and I think I would like a 999 next but thats a million miles away yet as I'm skint and have a lot I want to do to the 748 first.

Plus get a new set of leathers (always expensive!!)

What a b'stard question !
33 years !
Where did it all go ?
Am I the only one sad enough to have put it on my web site ? (29 of them)
http://freespace.virgin.net/ps.h/bike_history.htm

Hmmm ... and how many of you can boast that they've only just bought their second car ?

26yrs (im only 32) dad was a racer so started me very, very young....

'79 Yam 50cc scrambler
'80 Yam TY80 trials bike

Had a massive gap after good friends in racing got killed !!!

Took Direct Access test in '98 and bought a GPZ600r

Then brought a brand new CBR600 fx in 2000 (not reliable at all !!)

Got bored of 100mph everywhere and exchanged for the tricked-up 900ss at end '01 and kept the baby ever since.

Also bought the R1 road/trackbike last xmas.

I am 43, been riding for 26 years without a break. Over 1000 miles per week for a while, now about 2000 miles a year. Bit sad that.

CB250T - Honda Dream, allegedly. Never ridden a bike before. Bought it, got on and rode off. Those were the days. :o
CB500/4 - rat bike, despatching on other people's thrown away tyres. :o :o
CB250N - bought cheap after throwing a rod on the 500/4, nicked and whole bike thrown through a field.
R80RS - ultimate despatch bike (white BMW + fluro jacket) :pig:
Triumph 5TA - double vision above 40mph. Not ultimate despatch bike.
Laverda Jota - double vision above 130mph! :frog:
Motodd Laverda Jota - recently sold after 10 years in a Scottish shed :(
CBX1000 - UKP250 in Perth, Australia
XL1000 - UKP400 in Houston, Texas. Double vision at 70mph
91 900SS - sold to buy 916, then waited 18 more months
96 916BP - worth the wait
99 996SPS No 770 - I only went to look at it coz I'd never seen one
851SP3 No 341 - Just missed repossessed SP3 for UKP600, bought on the rebound
Brutale - Needed something to take the wife out on. Couldn't think of anything nicer.
851SP3 No 533 - Bought repossessed SP3 after all, but not for UKP600

DT
11-Sep-2005, 22:02
broken neck? neither... mucking about in a swimmming pool. nasty business.

I'm 42, been riding for 31 years and although I've ended up in hospital eight or nine times it was all dirt bikes. Never been down the road, but I'm looking to do my first trackday so there's a first time for everything.

Albi
11-Sep-2005, 22:36
I'm 37 been riding 24 years.. Raced shoolboy motorcross 125 for 2 painful years then 1 year on a 250.. like you many trips to the hospital, hitting
cars hurts the most so try an avoid those.. 2 so far for me..
as for track days you'll love it, but my advice is get yourself a cheap track bike you will never push your pride and joy to its limits and they cost more to repair than dirt bikes.. great buzz being on track
