I love that circuit :D

no but in reality i dont think we will get on any of the gp circuits (brands or sliverstone) or rockingham intl for that matter. i would do them all though. great circuits

Brands gp was ok, but not as good as i expected tbh.

It certainly has character, but if you liked that you will love oulton :D

I agree, far too expensive, however Silverstone national is not too bad and they already race there. I think MRO even do the international??

Whats wrong with Castle Combe?

Cadwell Woodlands IS rubbish though.

Oulton MUST be part of it next season :D

The rest is OK by me.

or maybe Mondello park - for the craic !

Not a fan of Rocky either - was there this week and it started wet and it was so slippery - all that BMW rubber they reckon - 3 riders went down in the first 2 laps!!! (a brand new K5 Gixxer and a new blae amounst them).

Oh my gawd I agree with The Domskie:

Castle Coombe is OK and who said drop Cadwell!! Wash your mouth out.

Oulton is a belter and my favourite circuit - sort of a longer wider Cadwell (not so good for the local curry houses though) and should definately be in.

Pembrey is a chalenging place and would be in my list - no long striaghts so probably good for the DDs as well. But it is Wales so it WILL be wet.

Likewise Brands GP was a stonker when it had Dingle Dell but haven't ridden it since they pi..ed about with it.

So in summary:

Cadwell
Pembrey
Oulton
Donnington
Lydden - there's a surprise and won't happen 'cos it's BEMSEE - but would work well with the little Duk's.
Brands (either)
C.Coombe

Only drop Cadwell Woodlands Ian, not the full circuit.

AK
08-Jul-2005, 22:21
We agree with Dom & the Old man ref C/Coombe - no probs with that, as Mark thought it was ok, and he hadn't ridden there for over 8 years.

Happy with all the circuits, tho not poss Cadwell Woodlands (take it or leave it)

BUT: we'd pref most races to be on a Sat:rolleye: , as logistics for returning from Cadwell at the end of the series on a late Sunday nite with work the next day, is something we aint looking forwards to:(

edited to add: at least can the 'powers that be' consider staying with the same promoter next season for all the races?

so - what IS the problem with Castle Coombe then, you lads :puzzled: (Mark has asked me to ask the question)
He says that it seems those who have race experience thought it was fine, those who hadnt dont like it.

Is it because none of you ever do trackdays there?

or something else?:puzzled:

he says: not picking a row - just asking:)

Its just too much stop-start! They've got one big loop of a track and they've put three artificial twists in it to slow the big bikes down, it just ruins the rhythm of the track.
IMHO :o

I liked Combe, even with the artificial chicaines. It was the long fast bumpy drag up to turn 1 that annoyed me, and I just couldn't get any confidence round Quarry.

I'd be happy enough to go there again but would need a track day first.

Unless you just mean the Woodland circuit I don't think you can Tim. Cadwell, the full circuit at least, is a flowing track apart from the entry to the mountain, it's stayed basically the same and hasn't needed juggling with to slow people down, apart from Skids of course ;)

Nah, I just need brakes to slow me down at Cadwell :D

Nice to share thoughts on favourite tracks, but you may not have a choice. I would say the best way is to stop fannying around and make it a proper race series with 10 rounds attached to New Era Superclub, in the big boys paddock. That way you just follow the circus to whatever track is next. This includes Donny National, Oulton, Cadwell full circuit, Brands Indy (Nobody does the GP, way too expensive), Silverstone National (ug, horrible), Snetterton and Mallory.

As for Rocky, eeeeeYUK. You won't get Thruxton and Lydden is like a go kart circuit. Only Bemsee go to Croix. Shame no Croft as I really liked my first trackday there last month. We raced Pembrey last year - good track but it was in March and the horizontal rain hurricane made it exciting(not).

Donny Cadwell and Oulton joint first place for fantastic circuits, Brands Indy is ok, Snet well it's a race I suppose and Mallory is great fun on the smaller bikes - very close racing. I like Castle Combe, not sure what's wrong with it, pretty much every circuit has a chicane these days and stop/starts are where the racing acition is and should be welcomed with those on underpowered bikes.

Out - Woodlands I guess. Full circuit ok.
Would like to do Thruxton but you need to race with NG to go there.
Castle was ok but for the last chicane IMHO.
Would like to see Pembrey in.
Haven't see Oulton or Brands yet so no comment.
Donington a good one and Croft would be nice.
Wouldn't like to do Lydden or Darley or Keevil or Rockingham

I'm with Domski too.....Castle Combe is ay-oh-kay! I'm with EVERYONE else who says that the Cadwell woodland circuit is pants!

Never been to Oulton, but everyone seems to be raving about it...so that one in please! (owz that for faith in the DD crew, eh?)

I quite like Mallory too, even after the inclusion of Edwina's...so that one in too!

Snetterton more fun than I thought it would be...but still a tad hard on the DD's old bones!...Oh yes, and I fell off there too...so undecided on that....AND its in Norfolk....eeeeuuchhh!

Incidentally....anyone intetrested in taking their DD machine to the Christmas Pud races at Mallory on Boxing Day? I MAY be persuaded! I went to spectate last year and it was cancelled for the first time in donkey's years as they couldn't melt the ice on the track at the chicane!!!! MMMmmmm...maybe I won't go there!!

Booked on Donnington on 2nd August to "feel my way round" the circuit...so see anyone who's booked on that day there!!!

Might be a very expensive race entry cost Nic.......:D

Exactly as WJB says, run with the Superclub and you get all the good circuits thrown in free.

I didn't mind woodland so much, but could live without the hairpins....

Definitely didn't get on with Castle Coombe. Might be better if they resurfaced Quarry and didtched the last chicane.

Silverstone national would be 'orrible. There's only one decent corner on the whole track!

How about 8 rounds of the Superclub???

Ali

AK
11-Jul-2005, 14:38
6 meetings (11 or 12 rounds) is surely enough for a 'budget' series?

More & it could put some people off, with the added costs?:puzzled:

10 rounds maybe too much of a financial and time commitment for the DD race series.........6 - 8 is optimum i think as has been suggested..........im happy to take the good with the bad and lets be realistic are there really any bad.......???? Cadwell woodlands aint the best track but i had one of the best races there with Ali...........so go figure...................

In my first season of racing, I don't think I qualified to answer which tracks should be dropped, having only raced on 3 of the many!

Hopefully though we'll have something different next year?

I think Cadwell Woodland was great for our first race, but I would not vote for it next year, Cadwell full, yes, - and its up North. - Oulton is the one to add.
Castle Coombe from a spectator/facility/ organisation point of view impressed me.
Lydden :o Sorry, way too small.
Nobody has mentioned Sneterton?

Snet is ok, happy to leave that in.

Wouldn't mind some more horsepower for that straight though! Like another 100!!

no, it was to add or get rid of rounds so i guess everyone is happy with them.

definitely seems woodland is top of the list to go followed by castle coombe.

and oulton seems favourite to come in.

i know nothing is decided yet and there will doubtless be opportunites to discuss further but interesting none the less.

also imho 8 rounds with your best 7 to count would be my prefered format. allows for holidays, family comittments, etc that us none pro racers have from time to time.

What would that Castle Combe decision be based on, only a couple of DD racers more for wanting out rather than in.
And when you look at the spectator turn out I would find it hard to justify dropping Castle Combe if was on offer next year, which it may not be as no doubt North Glos club will be bidding for the date as usual and as they as a club are growing then maybe next year they may get it.
I would rather go back to CC than Snetterton

just the fact that more want it out than want it in.

Don't forget that a lot of the replies to this thread are informal and cannot be used in a court of law :P

If there was to be any influence on the decision makers it should only come after all concerned parties had a full and proper say in the matter, dare i say to you all that this forum isn't the place to make such decisions.......

There is little or no point in speculating on what tracks we will be running at next year, for the next few months. We will have a better idea once we have been to see New Era at the end of the season.

From comments already made we have an idea of what is probably going to be the most popular tracks for next year and it is will then be a quesion of the number of rounds that we do.

Chris
I don't believe this was an attempt to speculate on what tracks we would be running at next year, more a thread for feedback on what ciruits we liked / did not like this year.

I think the feedback here is invaluable in understanding the general view about the tracks and this feedback could be used as part of a strategy for next year.

Tim, Dickie,

No criticism implied by my post, have been talking this through behind the scenes and Monty will be talking with New Era at Donnington, so that we can feedback at Brands.

It is just a bit early to speculate about next year!
