View Full Version : POLL "Oulton/Donny/Croft - The Unofficial DSC Trackday"
Who's up for doing a TD at Oulton next year then?
Pretty simple, we'll block book x places as Dibble so kindly did with Apex and Brands and get as many Ducati's out on the rolling circuit as possible.
As I have said in the other thread (Cadwell/Oulton) I have already had a brief chat with WJB seeing if No Limits would be up for this, and everything looks good so far, nothing concrete as soon as I have dates for next year I'll post up a suitable date and cost etc. Obviously DD needs to be considered as much as possible here, so it will be a midweek day more than likely, if we get lucky we might get a weekend, but that will be at a premium.
Any takers, thoughts
I voted for Oulton. Because I'll have done Donny this year.
No idea where Croft is, even Norferer than Oulton?
deffo up for it.....camping or cheap b&b should deffo be considered JPM.?

I reckon we could sort out some kind of deal on accommodation if people were interested
Tony
Oulton is prob just over 3 hours from you, croft more like 4 - 4.5 i would hazard a guess
Phil,
As soon as I can arrange a date etc with a TD organiser, we'll sort out local B&B's and a night out etc, Oulton does have camping as far as I am aware for all the cheapskates :D
As this is a NW DSC event as such they'll be plenty of the North DSC mob on hand etc (hopefully to help out) and I'm sure we can speak to the owner of the pub where we meet to throw a bit of a BBQ etc also.

Don't think Oulton do bike days on a Friday Dickie, usually Tuesdays/Wednesdays which is a bugger, but they do have weekend days, I'm doing one on the 13th August there with No Limits (which unfortunately for me is the DD round at Donny)
So if Mark/WJB can sort anything like that in 2006 (July/Aug) that's the date I'll be looking for.
Jon - You'd have to check with the boss ;)

Which one would be best for me on the Multistrada?
Have done Donnington twice and Oulton once but years ago back in my R1 days, loved both of them! Really fancy doing a track day sooner rather than later. Croft and Oulton are both roughly the same distance for me so I will vote for whichever would be better for the Multilarder.
Although I have been looking around at 996/998s recently :)
Never done Croft, might be soon, but the 996/998s went very well round Oulton :D

I cant believe I had a 996S for 2 years and never did a trackday on it! I will vote for Oulton as I may remember which way the corners go.
Will have to dig my old BKS one piece suit out of the loft buy a 996/998 and remember how to hang of the thing again! I'm still smarting at your police rider style comment after our trip up to Hartside! :D
Oulton for me for sure... bring it on... hope one of you locals will show me the way round.....:D

And to your left we have a nice gravel trap and grass combo, well you do like to get the most out of your days as I recall

Oulton
Will you have a group for chaps like me who get passed by grannies on those little four wheel motorised wheelchair thingies ?:)
croft
excellent circuit and at just over 2 miles long enough to keep you more than interested. As to accommodation you have travel lodge or travel in type places within a few miles not mention the local refreshment establishmentsss which also serve some fine food enjoy:P
I'd love to do either Oulton or Donington,.....oh and accomodation required,....dont do camping!:D
I voted for donnington cos I've never done it, but then again I've never done oulton either so count me in!

Yeah it's called the paddock :D
Seriously not if, but when this happens whichever TD company we use it will be one I have used myself and have been happy with them in the past, first choice is No Limits for plenty of reasons, but it's all about dates next year I guess.
Dibble - I'm just following your example mate
Oulton for me, can stay at a mates nearby.
Would prefer a weekend date, as it's at least 2 days out for me on a weekday.

Looks like Oulton then:sing:
I've spoken to Mark at No Limits and we're all set in principle. We can do the same as we've done for other 'unofficial' DSC dates with No Limits eg at Cadwell.
Oulton is a superb circuit, one of the best, but it is not allowed many dates for bike days and weekends are very rare. As soon as we get the dates for next year (which is some time away), JPM and I can agree a date and post it on the site.
From Herts, the trip to Oulton is not much different to Cadwell, sure it's further, but it's all motorway and if no hold ups, not much longer. There's no camping at Oulton, but plenty of B&B's locally.

Oulton:)
So far 31 people are up for this, I've had a few ideas about the whole thing over the last few days, which all depends really on dates that come up for next year, maybe have a mega-meet with a few rideouts also, for people who don't really fancy a track day, possible spectators then have a blast over the cat and fiddle etc
Anyone fancy Oulton the day after TA4?
No Limits have a day there, and since I have the whole week off, I'm negotiating an extension to the pass from Mrs_S right now...

The August date is full, although the September day has places
26th July is showing places though, and this is the one I'm considering

Ah ha!
I won't be there unfortunately, people off at work that week so gotta hold the fort so to speak

Oulton or Donington - my favourite 2 circuits and I live more or less in between them:) so either one is fine by me.
Thanks to JPM for getting this started:roll:
....Maybe I need to organise a double-header:eureka:
Bit of an update on this, I was having a chat with Mark @No Limits on Saturday and he's more than happy to accomodate us, it will just be a normal track day but we'll try and occupy as many places as possible, so it will be open to all, and if anyone wants to invite friends, partners etc who ride something other than a Ducati it won't be a problem.
I'll hopefully have an idea on dates in the next month or two, so plenty of time to plan and reserve the date in your calendar.
Book early though to avoid dissapointment as last Saturday's No Limit's day at Oulton had around 80+ people on the reserve list :o

if you can wait until the DD dates are out for next year and the trackday comes before the race then that would be getting on for 30 takers for starters.

I won't be on track, but if it's Oulton I'll certainly be there to watch/spanner/run errands etc :D
Not voted. Either one of these is fine by me. Just hope it's not Ducati-only.:(
