Anyone using this lane near Battlesbridge, Essex should beware. I rode it this afternoon and came swweping round a bend to be confronted with two trucks, vans and a load of workmen in the middle of the road laying overbanding. NO MEN WORKING SIGNS, NO WARNINGS. I avoided the workmen but rode thru fresh tar which has wrecked my tyres. I have spoken to Essex Highways and Alfred McAlpines and they say they will get back to me. In the mean time - be careful, they were laying tons of the stuff.

Serves you right for not using the old A130 Battlesbridge bypass or, even worse, the new replacement A130 dual-carriageway! :P I know them well as I moved "here" from Burnham!
We've just had a lot off nice roads temporarily ruined with loose chippings not being swept up after our councils version of "resurfacing", good luck with your claim, if they don't stump up for damages then sue 'em
