I've got a very old 600SS that needs new tyres. I mostly ride on country lanes with the odd bit of dual carriageway commuting (no track days). The 600SS is old and slow - so I guess it would be waste putting on the latest sticky rubber.

Any suggstions as to the best tyres?

I'd give the normal Diablos a try. Very planted, warm up quickly and wear well.

Echo Nelly's advice, just put a set on the ST4S, and they are as he says-planted. I ride lots of twisty 'B' roads -the B660 springs to mind, and they don't come much more twisty than that one.;)

A good ride-in, ride-out price should be about £180 at the cheapest to £210 at the thick end

just had 2 quotes locally £199 & £205 fitted to loose wheels - same price whether Diablo or Diablo Corsa.

The Corsa rear would have to be a 180/55 not 170/60 as std.

I just had a brand new set of Diablos fitted for £190. This is my 3rd set now and I have always been happy with them. I commute to work in most weather (excluding snow) and have never had a problem. Usually get plus 5000 miles and a trackday before looking for a new set.

I'd agree with all the other comments about Diablos. I had a set fitted to my 1994 750 SS and they transformed the handling. £180 fitted ride in/ride out. I've had another set put on my recently acquired 851 SP2.

Hi Martini,

I've got a new front and part worn rear Diablo you can have for £80/pair if you want. The rear has lots of meat left on it.

Cheers,

I have Diablo Corsa's on my 900ss and I think its overkill (sorry) for the road - Std Diablos should be fine....

I got mine here:

If you can get hold of any bridgestone bt56 ss front bt56 rear then get some. Had them fitted to a 93 750 ss and where still planted with the back brake pedal scraping the floor,,,,and no the rear shock wasn't shagged neither was i 20 stone. Standard dragon evos would be fine aswell £145 from demon tweaks in wrexham. good night
