No cash mate - I've just bought a 998!!

At the moment I own a 996, 998R and the monster DD bike. I need to get rid of the 996 before I have any money again!

That's got to be TOO cheap surely???? What's the problem with it? Brand new they're £11k.

Right Lads, give me some feed back. Is it a real bargain, What's the bhp, are they rare and any other info please. I'll purchase subject to your feed back.

Cheer Peter

Rare - yes. Popular? Not really - Ducati Manchester had one in the showroom for ages.

BHP will be the same as a regular 998S.

I reckon it's worth £9k.

You don't want that mate - they're rubbish!

You want yourself a nice 996 for less money - tuned by Sigma Performance!

It was a bit tongue in cheek mate - my 996 has about 120 horsepower at the rear wheel and is a nice bike. It's not a low mileage 998S FE though - it will have around 130 I think? A standard 996 makes around 112.

The 998 will also make different power to my 996, be a bit smoother.

Depends what you want I suppose.

But if you're interested in my 996 - just let me know :D

They stil go for about 13 K new, Italia Moto in Lincoln had one a few months ago as did Duc Man, i was really interested but price stayed at around 13 so i bought a 999S instead for a lot less.

Ignore the hp info on ducati site if you check out the 04 specs, i confirmed withDUK that it is the 137 BHP deep sump engine. FE seat unit isn't that nice IMO, its got tricolour decals which don' t look that good

I`ve just had another look at the link not realising it was at CJ balls:o Saw it was Norwich, but didn`t scroll down :( They`re a big Suzuuuki and Honda dealer,,don`t normally have Italian stuff in,very respected dealer thou(so I`ve heard)Got to buy it now at that price if you were looking for one that is.I`ll try and get a look at it over the weekend if it`s still there.

I know CJBalls - very, very good reputation. Friend of mine just bought their ex-demo 'Blade, mint with only 500 miles on the clock, and he got a great deal. And another mate of mine buys his bikes from nowhere else...

Thanks, but no thanks,it hasn`t got a square headlight and is to "modern and fast" for me,I wouldn`t have an excuse for not keeping up if I had a sigma tuned 996:D

I spent last night swapping the 'Aussie' shift onto the new bike and the 'English' shift back onto the 996.

It's a right geeza now innit ;)

I went to bed mate!

I'd like to do the Narfuk run but I fear that after being at Donny all weekend next week, TA4 on Monday that taking a day on the bike the very next weekend may not go down very well.

At all.

We'll play this one by ear.

I have to agree with Gizmo, that is not the best looking 9** I`ve seen,it`s that seat unit, just doesn`t quite look right, says a man who rides a bike with a square headlamp:lol:

They have still got it,must have been in the showroom nearly two years.
The FE's do'nt blow my skirt up,just not special enough for a final edition.

For those who are interested,I spoke to CJ Balls today about the FE,they still have it,it originally was registered at Italia Lincoln,so it`s a UK bike thru an official dealer.Balls said they`ve had a lit of telephone interest from Ebay but beleive they might have advertised it to cheap and people think it`s not genuine. They have no interest in Italian stock and just want to shift it ASAP.

As far as I know there are no 998sFE from 2003.
Mine is one of the first and its from April 2004.
So it must be a (classic) 998 with bits and pieces....

Just phoned about the bike only to be told it was sold on Saturday, he said an Italian gentlemen came in saw the bike and could not believe how cheap it was and bought it, £7000

At that price it is no big deal to purchase a single seat unit without the FE graphics!

Kicking myself again for being to slow and thinking it over for too long.
