View Full Version : Raising handlebars

I'm having problems riding my 888, in that after not many km's (I'm in NZ) at legal speeds I get very sore back and wrists due to the riding position.

Now the 888 is the bike of my dreams in every other respect and I really don't want to sell it. However if I want to ride with my partner who rides her Firestorm at legal speeds only then I need to sort something out. At 140km/h or greater it's no problem, but at 100 it's hell. Besides riding with my partner the roads around where I live aren't really suitable for decent speeds anyway.

Is there any way I can raise the handle bars, or get some form of replacements, i.e aftermarket or higher bars off a touring bike with same diameter forks but more lift etc.

Also, It looks like anything higher may foul the front fairing?
I'm relly keen to get this sorted as I haven't ridden the bike in the lat 3 months, mainly due to the amount of pain I'm ending up in after a minimum or 200km like this per ride.

Good things said about Helibars (http://www.helibars.com/ducati.html) or theres Cyclecat (http://www.cyclecat.com/BR1-1.htm) or have a look at this Thread (http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=8660#pid70151) for a few DIY ideas :)

Wee Hee - I'm famous!

I must say in hind sight I'd probably go for either fully adjustable bars (Jota type or cyclecat) or change the top yoke for a drilled type - Lucas in Germany seem to do some good ones - just check on http://www.ebay.de

Clearing the fairing is a swine but pulling the bars back helps loads.

Good luck - Frank

Hmm, Maybe if you paid for some flights & shipping to get me and it there I'd consider it ;)

JUst after posting this I found some Tomaselli clip-ons for sale on our local equivalent of ebay (www.trademe.co.nz) Ebay don't have a real presense here. ANyway I snapped them up quick. Hopefully they arrive today or tomorrow. Otherwise I will look at ss bars.
