Not quite,it`s basically a single seated strada with high level pipes.

Redsps

cut down spec sp5 for the US market, to get through there tighter emissions etc.
No really in the same league as the proper SP5, I expect jasper will be along shortly to update you fully;)
still a nice one though

If I remember correctly, Mike Cecchini had a braced swingarm made in the Uk. Either Metmachex or JMC I think. They did it as a one off.

Metmachex list various Ducatis as do JMC but neither lists the 851/888.

But Metmachex, if I remember right, used Rushjob's ST2 to make a pattern for their ST swingarm. Maybe if there was enough interest from the 851/888 peeps?

Just looking at it...not taking any measurments you understand...the 888 swingarm is very, very similar to the ST one...just seems to have the yellow hoopy bit, A-frame or whatever you call it fitted to lugs welded on top of the arm. I would've thought that since the ST frame was based on the 888 that Metmachex might be able to adapt something fairly easily.

Prices are around the £5-600 mark from memory

JMC list the Monster which should be the same as an 851/888.

In fact the 888 swingarm is shown when I bothered to look!

14-Sep-2005, 23:38
Sparkin's right ! I bought it a week or so ago. So sorry, but that one's gone mate.

Had a call from Derek at Baines today - the bill so far to bring it up to scratch is about £700 just for parts, plus labour. That includes new tyres (about £180 say), new screen, ohlins rear shock rebuild (by Ohlins), full service, fresh fluids, front and rear pads, a range of nuts/bolts/washers/etc.

He's had it running and says it sounds really sweet, and it should be ready for collection a week Saturday (still to be done are braided brake hoses, some sort of oil cooler pipe and another rubber bit somewhere).

To say I can't wait is an understatement !

Yep, as long as no-one laughs when I stall it 3 times pulling away from their shop, through nerves, and then find out just how crap the steering lock is as I crash into the van !

We (wife, and 2 kids, plus me) will be coming from Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, and as it takes an age to get everyone out of the house, I doubt we'd be there much before 12 noon.

Should still be on for collecting the SP2 on Sat. 24th . There was a couple more things to do to the bike, plus get it an MOT, so I'll post a confirmation Thurs/Friday to say if we're on or off.

It would be great to see some of you boys (and girls) and your bikes ! Thanks for showing interest.
