'04 model has cast swing arm,top vents in the fairing, silver frame,a claimed 136bhp.Red or yellow only.
'05 bike has deep alloy swingarm,no top vents in fairing, taller screen a claimed 143bhp.Red bikes have red frame, black bikes have black frame, yellow bikes have...erm,..silver frame.
Hope that helps.

Wotcha,

2005 bike has...

revised fairing design (one less vent on front and higher screen)

Ohlins forks with revised internals. (different adjuster rod)

Radial brembo calipers (04 has the traditionally mounted 4 pad brembos)

revised motor, different cams, crank and pistons. (few more horses) the motor lists at just 3 bhp more than standard but when you fit the termi exhuast you get a bigger gain than with the standard (bp) model.

Race swingarm, as fitted to the 999R / 749R only up to 04

colour coded frame (red on red bike etc)

Black rear subframe

Black marchesini wheels (04 has grey)

The 05 Comes with a Termi asymetric race exhaust system, carbon cover and ECU. the 04 comes only with standard exhaust.

and... the 05 bike has been a mega seller (in ducati terms) but i think there are still 04 bikes out there unsold at some dealers. all the 05 bike are now sold and the ones coming though now are 2006 models (no change for '06) so draw you own conclusions about residule values. but who knows.

you will be lucky to find a used 2005 "S"

if you need any more info u2u me.

Plus different type of plastic for fairing material

and no off switch for lights

and, the bhp is measured at crank now (?) or was that a sour grape comment from Jap owner?

:puzzled:
Guy at truck stop with an alleged 04 S had light switch. Perhaps it was a late 03 early 04?

Yep, that would be an '03 bike on an '04 plate. My '04 MY 749S has permanent lights on.
