Paddock stand to lock the rear wheel, does this help?

From time to time it's necessary to lock the rear wheel to remove various bits from the bike.

FG special parts in Italy make a paddock stand that has a removable bar that stops the rear wheel turning.

It wouldn't be difficult to fabricate a similar setup to convert an existing single sided stand to do the same.

I have a website address for FG special parts but it doesn't seem to work.

I've got a similar one for mine, but isn't a Ducati one, and is smaller, the handle itself is used to pivot the bike onto the stand too.

There will be a few out there I am guessing, it might possibly be a Harris one.

Also bought there front wheel stand which has proved really useful indeed.

J&S do one similar to the one JPM discribed at about 2/3 the price of a Ducati one.

Yep, got one of those and I found it useless as it simply bends the bar that sticks through the wheel. Only way to get the fecking nut off is with someone (lardy is a good thing in this case) sitting on the bike, pressing the rear brake lever and using a scaffolding bar on the socket.

Possibly cheaper (good old yorkshur trait I know!!:P) and more flexible is the item I use.

It's a 9m retracting tape measure from any hardware outlet. It wedges between the rear brake pedal and the swingarm pivot bolt lug thus locking the back wheel solid (if your rear brake's any good)

Makes getting the rear wheel off much easier and possible with one pair of hands and no bloodloss. Would work the same for the 'other' jobs you mention.
