View Full Version : Carbon airtubes & filters
Purchased some BLING carbon airtubes, three questions:
1. There are no bulges to clips the airbox clips onto, just holes, so how the feck do I clip them on?
2. It looks like I can't fit stock air filters, so do we recommend the bell mouth ones? if so which ones, where from and how much?
3. The indicator mount just has two holes, no female thread type retainers, how the feck do I attach the indicators?

1 Nelly riveted on some wedges for the clips to grip to but truth is the nosecone & fairing will keep them seated as the front edge has a bolt hole anyhow.
2 No, you can't run standard filters, I run a RamAir airbox filter but different people have different ideas, I have a spare on in the garage, bit scruffy but if you want it for the short term its yours for a tenner, i think its a JHP one.
3 You need a couple of wellnuts, they will fit snug in the hole and then as you tighted the retaining bolt the wellnut expands holding the indicator on, the other hole is for the connector leads which feed through the airtube.
Hope that helps mate ....

Desmo 748, perhaps you should have bought some better quality items!!!
I've had two sets of Ducati performance ones & they've both fitted very easily, none of the problems you've had!!
I used JHP filters on my bikes,not cheap,but quality does come at a price,as you've found out!!:D

Not really monkeyboy,
- Nuts/washers for indicators = 20p
- Cable ties, one bag of about 100 = £1.05p
Quality only comes at a price to those gullible enough to pay a price & I am not having problems just some fun fitting them like Dibble did last year.
Tried over bell mouth filters and lost 10 bhp. :puzzled::puzzled:

I`ve heard of that b4 Ducv2, The JHP ones on mine have caused no problems and the engine feels very crisp as well. I have slight glitch in the feulling in that after a hard run, where it occasionally coughs and dies as I de celerate from high speed, but its only on the rare occasion so I think a power commander will cure that as well.

Engine ran well with it fitted, but did one dyno run with filter then another 2 minutes later without, instant power gain. If you are fitting a power commander you will be doing a fair few dyno runs, so as a matter of interest try a run without the filter and see what happens. If you have the fairing gauzes removed, make sure nowt goes into the intakes:D:D.
Shazzam did a post on this type of filter some time back.
