Rear wheel problem

Dear All,

Have just fitted Marchesini 5 spoke wheels to my 748 but the rear does not seem to fit very well!

The dome shaped spacer/washer does not sit flush with the surface of the wheel - is this something I should worry about as I do not know what to do about it?

My local dealer is unsure why but thinks it should be OK.

The wheel is fitted with a 190 section tyre and the wheels I believe came from a 996.

Is the wheel too big?

Any help would be greatfully recived!

I'd definitely worry about it! Are you sure the wheel is fitted on to the pins properly; I've heard horror stories about the wheel being fitted with the pins between the holes and the nut tightened up like that. Shouldn't be any problem with the wheel size. Is your local dealer a Ducati specialist?

As far as I am aware the dome of the spacer goes inwards, the dealer may have put ut the other way round which would cause problems.

I have a magnesium Marchesini on my bike. The tapered/conical spacer fits into the tapered/conical receptacle in the wheel - however the spacer does protude approx 5mm from the surface of the wheel "boss".
The visible part of the spacer is "parallel" (not tapered/conical).

I believe on a standard 3 spoke wheel, the parallel part of the spacer is not visible?

Mine's been like this for 6 years on my 748 and 1 year on my SPS...

yep my 5 spokes fit the same, spacer stands out about 5mm.

Just went to the car park and checked and mine is out aprox 5mm as well.
