Finally found myself a nice looking rear wheel for a 900SS and it only turns out to be a 6" rim :mad:
I guess this must be for an injected SS but, it looks like a narrow axle similar (visually) to my 1993 900SS - so, will a 6" rear fit as from memory the rim on mine is only a 5 1/2" rim.
Cheers - frank

IT seems to be abit of a grey area with ducati weels I have been looking for a 51/2 for my monster & all the ones I find look the same hub but have a smaller axel it could be just a case of changing the bearings, what diameter are the axles in both your wheels.
Chass.

Yeah - shed loads of 'em for the single sided backends.
I believe my rear spindle is 21mm and the front 17mm.
Here is some blurb I wrote on converting a larger axle front wheel to fit my bike:

and also a link to the Mg Dymag I'm watching in ths USA as I does not look like I'll be buying it anyway !!!

I know a 5.75 rim will fit (Marvic makesthem for our bikes). Haven't heard about a 6.0 rim fitting, as most won't try that size as there is no need on a carby 900ss.
But I guess the real issue is not whether the rim will fit but whether the TIRE on a 6.0 rim will fit - 180 or 190. I would think a 170 will be too narrow for a 6.0 rim.
Sorry about more questions than answers.

Cheers Edwyun,
Thanks for the quick reply, does not look like the guy wants to ship to the UK anyway. So - I've decided to treat myself to some P34 calipers local to me instead.
Early Xmas present :lol::lol::lol:

Dymag sent me the following :

Subject: Magnesium wheel for 900ss Ducati
Hello, I've asked this question of someone in the USA (I believe without
reply). I'm considering buying an unused Magnesium Dymag wheel from someone in the USA via Ebay, here is the link to the item:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4582285221
Thing is my bike is a 1993 900ss but only has a 5.5" rim and I'm concerned
about clearance and tyre fitment but really like the idea of having a Dymag
rear wheel!
The axle diameter and mounting seem right for my bike but not the 6" width - advise / comments pls.
Also - is this tye suitable for road use?
Cheers - Frank L. Smith

Hi Frank,
I know about the wheel you are talking about. We have sold both 5.50 and
6.00"rims for this bike so I can only presume (and I'm sure it does) it will
fit with out any clearance problems.
All our products are tested to JWL and British Standard. They are suitable
for road use.
Regards;
Steve
