Having recently purchased a 748 i was thinking of purchasing a carbon rear hugger to keep the rear shock etc clean, but have seen a carbon shock protector. Has anyone got one fitted? i would prefer this if it looks ok as i'm not sure a rear hugger would look as good, any comments anyone?

I think there are several different shock protectors out there for either a showa or ohlins unit, and then a full protector or half etc for both.

Personally I'd go for the hugger as it not only keeps crap off the shock but also the whole back end of your bike

Shock protector can be found here :

Not the best solution, but currently the only one for MTS620

looks like a hugger would be best then, I've looked on e bay etc and there seems to be a vast array of huggers, can anyone recommend a hugger they have fitted?

Personall preference...but IMHO huggers completely spoil the rear end lines of the 748/9** range.

I've used a shock guard on both my 748 and 916 and never had any issues with crud...but then I don't ride that often in the wet?!?!

Harv, what make of shock guard did you use and have you any pics of it fitted?

I have a casoli one, that was originally made for a showa unit...however, when I fitted an Ohlins shoick, I had to cut it down slightly to fit...no big deal though.

I prefer this smaller type to the bigger ones you can get, which wrap completely around the reservoir and spring, with some mesh on it...looks total overkill to me.

I prefer this type...

...as opposed to this type.

Just a personal preference...

The huggers that Sandbar are top quality. Just fitted one for a customer, that he'd bought, and it went straight on.
There are several "good" ones out there. Look great, are strong and well made.................. they just don't fit!!
