I am reliabley informed that an S4rS is on its way and will have 999 power and possibley Ohlins. I know MCN anounced this possibility a couple of weeks ago but you cannot always rely on them.Word is it will be £9250 ish

Been on the cards for some time - heard about it from a dealer, Teststretta engine.
Don't see how you could hold on to that much power on a naked bike, but I'm sure it would find a market.
It was bound to happen as the old engine must be getting difficult to manufacture. Plus, the testastretta is probably less expensive to produce as well.
The S4R is already plenty quick. I can't imagine wanting more power.

Yep..radial front end and stretta motor. When I bought mine I knew they would eventually slam a stretta motor in it..but you boys are right...mines too much already with approaching 130hp. The chipped and piped stretta S4R is rumoured to kake 150..:o

The 996 engine is being discontinued due to emissions laws I'm told.....

Oh yes ...................... it shall be mine ;)
You'll have to adapt your riding style Mutters... I doubt you'd get away with leaving it pinned open on a 'stretta Monster ;)

Even though it'll be unveiled in 12 hours, here are some spy shots from an italian site:

Doesn't look a lot different to the naked eye though?

It's almost a certainty it will appear at the Milan show and reading throught the posts on the Italian freezone forum the specs are set quite high hence the price which is likely to hit the £10,000 mark. There is more speculation on this than fact but pitched at that asking price it ought to be a very sought bike indeed. I should know as I am sorely tempted to trade in my 999S for one. Anyone interested in a fastidiously kept example.

Good move Rod - you wont regret moving to the 'cafe posers' regiment. Peformance with style and comfort to match..nuff said ;):D

Nattyboy, I think Im due the change too. Spent seven years riding full on sportsbikes and I am quietly excited at the prospect of a new era in my two wheeled exploits.
Check the pics here ....and check out those black front calipers .......how cool are they ! :P
Ooooooooooops ....forgot the link !

Aha, so you are lurking here as well Mr Sandeman! Are you thinking of upgrading too Logyk? Dont reckon I will get hold of one before the UKMOC weekender but reckon the first few will filter into the UK come April which might be in time. Still gotta sell my current beast first. Just torn between the white or the red one. Guess we will all see the official pics on Tuesday when its unveiled in Milan. The cloak and dagger response from the dealers I have spoken to about it does amuse me. Total denial of its existence was the line they were towing. No surprise there then!
There is every possibility I may be tempted Rod !
I could be tempted too!
A triple9 S in Monster clothing,.....yum,yum!
Press day at Milan,so I guess all will be revealed today.

Cool ! Pearl white looks lovely..cracking wheels too.
Think the desmoquattro engine looks better, and I'd like to see how your going to get a belly pan round that deep sump ..? (I think a belly pan is one of the things that sets a monnie off)
I'd still have one though..:cool::D
Nat
Delboy, gotta say, I like the pearl white tank etc, but more I look at it, against the frame colour, it looks naff. I reckon the frame should have been black for that bike.

Is the desmoquattro the one in the S4r?
Yes Nick, it's got a 996 desmoquattro engine.

I read somewhere £9250 (plus the termi's,plus the datatool).
Would the extra 13 hp over an S4r be very noticeable? I guess owners of tuned S4r's would be able to answer that.

I dont think you would notice a great differance in the engine but it will need more revs to get the best out of it. However where i think it will be better is the Ohlins. I had a 999s with ohlins before i had the S4r and i do miss the better handling of the ohlins. I have also riden an Aprilia tuano with ohlins and that handles better than the S4r. I will be going for the S4rS because of the handling. I was going to put Ohlins forks on the S4r this year but now i may as well just change it for the new model.

I do like it, think I'll stick with the S4r I've got though and try and get some second hand Ohlins as they don't do Blue and White on the new one, and I've not got the £4k to change that they'll probably want :(
