View Full Version : Would these fit a 888 ?
Rearsets for a Monster? (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DUCATI-MONSTER-REAR-SET-FOOTREST-KIT-M-800-900-1000-S4_W0QQitemZ8009623120QQcategoryZ10448QQrdZ1QQcmdZ ViewItem)
It's all academic 'cos I can't afford 'em - well at least they're not on the priority list, cos it's brakes first !
But, I was just thinking along the lines that the 888 frame begat the ST frame and Monster frame so some stuff might be interchangeable?
Opening that line of thought up, has anybody produced a list of compatible parts for 888's? ie - you can use a P8 from a car as long as you change the chip etc... or you can use the wheels from a ??? if you change the bearings etc....I might have made all that up and it could be borrocks but you see my point?
Maybe we could do one?

My understanding is that a P8 from a Fiat goes straight in.

Just a word of warning, what is rearset for a Monster might end up being less so for a 888............
The mountings might be the same but check the footpeg positions. Same applies to SS items.
And yes, this is the voice of wasting money speaking :(
PS For sale: Forward sets for 888 - suit short-ar8e rider

yeah the rearsets for a monster cause your feet to hit the fairing. the SS shares foot peg assemblys with the 888 so after market rearsets for them fit straight on. mine share the same part number also, confirming fitment.:sing:

The footrest assembly for the SS is slightly different to the 888. Fitting SS footrests to an 888 will move the footrests back about 25mm. No problem for the brake side, but will need a longer gearchange rod.
Probably the cheapest set of rearsets you can buy.

all rearsets will move the footrests back to some degree, that's why they're called "rearsets". this is also the reason you will need a longer shift rod. if you compare position with std on a SS you should find they are further back on that also. whether the shift rod is interchangeable from SS to 888, i don't know.
the std footrest assy's on 888's and SS's share the same part numbers also.

All the bolt on bits are the same between the SS and 888, it is the casting that bolts onto the frame that is different. I bought a pair of SS footrest assemblies thinking they were identical to the 888s, and found that the angle of the casting is actually different to cater for the different angle of the SS frame mounting points.
