this membership idea
i almost feel that to 'get my moneys worth' from the membership i neeeeed to participate in the many events / social sceens which will cost even more hard earned (hahahr) cash, also being on my own (so it seams) in the north east i have to actually get off my ass and travel t meet up with anyone muss grumble.

ive got t'old application form all filled in (if you can read it) and enveloped like i just need a stamp.

i did have a half arsed idea to have a go in the DD series but i dont have the cash let alone the skill

Well you can participate in most club events without being being a member, excluding discounted trackdays and DD entry for example. But possibly the biggest worth from your £25 membership fee is the discounts on a lot of stuff you already buy... do you get your bike serviced, or buy spare parts? I've reduced my running costs by at least 10x the membership fee by flashing my card.

And errr... who told you any skill was needed to enter DD? I'm in it!

I don't think Scotty's closest dealer M and S offer a DSC discount. I've spoken to their clothing department and they were willing to do a discount but i never finalised things with them. I'll do it next week after they've recovered from NEC.

Like Scotty the benefits for members in areas where there are few others seem small. Duke's idea of co-ordinating a calendar for nortern meets is one i'd like to see pusued. theres potential in arranging a lunch stop where riders from different areas can head to, keilder/hawick, hartside, devils in the north east/west borders. inevitably organisation has costs which the club should contribute to, posters, flyers, route maps etc

i dont mind paying my membership provide we get that regional organisation going.

One other thing over and above the points already mentioned is that you get access to this website, and this message board in particular. Truth be known, that was my original reason for coughing up all those years ago.
The club have a dedicated server now and that costs money.
If you did nothing else, think of the money you've saved with the advice on here or on that bling you got a good deal on.............
Well worth it IMO. You can't even get a hangover for £25 nowadays ;)

and after the first year, it then costs you £20 a year.

You'll get not just discounts at dealers and DSC trackdays (be great to see you at the next one - maybe Cadwell?) but also you'll get the Pronto magazine, which I think is 6 times a year.
Webby has also negotiated discounts with the AA, there are also discounts with Ducati insurance (I think) - and you can also get the club t-shirt :lol: - apart from other items of clothing etc, tho no DSC undies yet! :o

I know what Gizmo is saying about the potential benefits are possibly small in your area at the moment due to not so many members - or the members being well dispersed as you go north. AK & I 'carded' a few bikes when out & about for a day near Cadwell earlier this year, and know the club gained at least one paid up member from that - who then came along to the club trackday the following day:cool:
As has been said before in other threads, you get out what you put in - and having met you at the UKMOC weekender 2 years ago when you 'popped' down to Arrow Mill, I know you like to get out & about;) :cool: You never know, you could become a RO if there is none in your area?
Its not just the far flung regions tho, as I know Tom Stack often struggles to get bods along in the Kent region for the monthly meet......

As Nelly said, the website alone is worth the £25. I coughed up to support that. I have only made 1 meet, don't do DD and as yet have not taken advantage of any discounts as I do my own work on the bike. But for technical support (plus a bit of fun) this website is second to none.

the members of this club are diamonds and every one i have met will go out of their way to help out fellow members

there is only 1 reason to join, you can get molst of the things without membership, and that is without peolpe putting money in, there is no club! If you want the club to continue, and the website of course, cough up ur dough....

Me being in Bristol, many peeps are in the south east meaning a 300 mile round trip before I have even got there:sniff: so meet ups are a bit difficult.
