Ride to dealer.
Mechanics replace seals.
Pay money.
Ride home.
Does it get any easier?

Not as easy as doing non upside down forks or the USD forks found in 600SS etc.
With the Showas you need a way to compress the spring and hold it down so that you can undo the damping rod from the fork cap and remove part of the preload setup.
So for someone like me its not that hard as I made the necessary tools years ago

What do you want to replace them with?:puzzled:
Sorry - serious answer. I dunno, always been to frightened to try it myself.
As per above, go to dealer, but make sure you check carefully that they do not leak afterwards.

I may not have to replace the seals but am checking to see how it is done.
I have a chance of a good set of forks but they have been standing a while so the seals may need doing id rather do them now before fitting the forks into bike as it would save time later.
I realise now that i need a tool to help take them apart this is ok they are £35.00 on ebay im hapy to buy this and sell it on when ive done the forks.
Only worth considering as forks are cheap.
The rest of the taking apart will be easy. ive rebuilt many engines in my life. including race bikes so im not unfamiliar with how things work
Phone K-tech , i they do a tool kit for forks ,not sure how much it is though
Good guys as well
