Clocked over the 50k mark on my 748 coming home from work yesterday (in foul weather, I might add).
51 reg, collected from dealers on Jan 6, 2002.
Overall it's been/is a great bike, and has taken a lot of stick in bad weather use and so on. No garage so it sits outside in the rain all year round.
"Consumables" include a couple of replacement ignition switches (2nd hand, cheap) probably due to the reason above. One and a half rectifiers (1 new, 1 2nd hand). One opening rocker. Couple of sets of front wheel bearings, ditto steering head bearings (to be expected). OE discs were replaced around 40k (not bad) and I treated myself to 4-pad callipers at the same time, although the original callipers were quite serviceable at the time. So brakes now better than ever.
And a few clutches, of course!
Can I claim the Club 4-valve record?:eureka:
Excellent stuff, i salute you, and sounds like a club record.
You don't say how much you've spent at the osteopaths though:lol:
You've got me done.
I can't believe you've done 50k and only replaced one rocker!

thats an average of about 1 post per 100 miles which means i should be out to the moon and back, or i'm just a gobby Aussie.

well done Fred:D - and congrats.
Didnt you have an 'off' earlier this year? - thus curtailing your riding for a while, so you could have actually done more:P

I Know its not 50,000 miles but I managed 26,000 in 14 months on my T Plate 916 before some Bast'td nicked it.

CK> The bike was off the road for all of August and half of September; prime biking weather too, so I missed a lot of the good weather. All's OK now, though: new nose-cone, new seat, new RHS fairing panels... :)
Mind you the smile'll be wiped off my face when I get my big service done soon (it's nominally the 48000m one, but with a bit "drift", it's my 51000 one ;) .
TP> I reckon it's because I've done 50k miles that I've only replaced one rocker.
pibbow> That's not too shabby, either! Still, I know what you're like in Scotland with your 500 mile ride-outs!
