Doing a replica track bike of the '97 WSB racer (see attached)...just ordered the fairing, and the guy said (cue harry enfield voice) - you dont wanna red oil catch tray under the fairing, you wanna nice black one - looks much better !!
The reason for having red is a I want to keep it as true as I can to the original..but hes got me thinking - black looks really trick..!!
So..do I keep it red and faithful to the real thing..or black and subtlely different..??
Cheers
Nat
P.S If anyone could use some fancy software and show me what it would look like in black..would really appreciate it !

I like the black BUT I appreciate what you say about it being authentic, so the choice is yours really.

All I can say is Martin added a bit of green to his bike and it looked the mutts... :)
I was trying to post an old picture of mine which had a black bellypan ,but the site refuses it for some reason.
I'll try later.
I can email it if you want, just send me an email address.

Harv 748,Nat doesn't mind if it's not a REAL SP,he just wants it to look like one!!Seems to think that it's the decals that make the bike!!

Ooooh, now then i had a similar experience when doing a Chris Walker rep zx7r (see pic) when starting with a red bike. I loved the result and it's nice to have a wsb replica BUT you see quite a few 996's etc with race graphics unfortunately.
To stand out i'd say black (maybe with white marchesinis?) and i bet it'd look sooooooooper cool. I love the grey 748s's too.
Just my ha'penny worth !!!

Don't stop with the belly pan keep going till it's all the right colour :D
stick with the original scheme if thats the rep you want to do. i wanted to turn my 748 into a 94/95 foggy rep but couldnt find anyone that did all the graphics so gave up on the idea
if you want a black bellypan follow the crowd and have a bayliss rep
