Nigel posted this up after a discussion last Sunday when I confessed to buying a Goldwing 1100 Aspencade to replace my blown-up 400-4 in the winter of 1983/4 when I was commuting from Burnham on Crouch down to Portsmouth each week. Was the perfect bike for it, especially hustling it around the (then derestricted) lanes from Dorking, Shere and Godalming before the M25 was finished. The on-board compressor got a lot of use! Press the button to soften the ride on dual carriageways, press the button to stiffen the suspension fot the twisty bits. My one didn't have running boards but that's when I first got used to grinding the toes off my boots :devil:
