New work at Cadwell !

While at work & passing Cadwell on Friday, I called in. :)
They are doing some major work down at the Woodlands Hairpin! :?:
On the section on the right between the 2nd marshals post at Hall Bends & the apex of the Hairpin is now Armco (replacing the tyre wall & earth bank ). :o
The whole inside of theHaipin is now leveled (so riders will be able to panic & ride over it :shock: ??!! if its turffed??? straight in to the side of the ones that have made it round OK :P ?)
And Armco is being installed on the right hand bank between The Hairpin & Barn ! :)
I am sure once complete it will be a lot better :) ?? But at the moment it looks a mess!! :o
The only thing I worry about is, if riders think 'it's safer now' they will be entering faster?!? :?: :?:

Popped into Cadwell this pm, the only real change is that they have leveled the grasses area on the inside of the hairpin, not the track, if you remember there was a bit of a drop from the grass to the track after the apex of the corner, so if you cocked up going in you would take off and land on the track, now you just slide & scrub off speed before getting to the track, better vision of the track as you come down to it.
A lot of the tyre walls are being replaced by armco with bagged bales against them, I for one believe this to be safer than tyres as there is less chance of being catapoulted back onto the track in front of on coming bikes. As a marshall & racer (past tense) I have seen this happen, & what could have been a minor getoff turns into a nasty multi bike accident.
