Has anyone got any advice/recommendations on breakdown cover? My SS is just out of warranty so need to arrange some cover I suppose and have just started looking around but thought I'd see if anyone has any advice as I say.

Cheers

When my warranty ran out I checked with the RAC (which my works van is insured with) if I was covered for the bike as well. Answer.......YES! Saved me £80 or so.

Is it worth checking with your insurers ?

You might find that DSC membership entitles you to a discount with the AA :puzzled: I'm sure one of the MT will be along soon to confirm it, maybe?

I used to get breakdown cover with my insurance policy (and the same with the car) but they've stopped doing it now so I joined the AA - covers the person not the vehicle and has a homestart option (very handy for Ducatis when it gets cold!)

I'll do that thanks. Must admit I was impressed with the AA when I needed them for the bike a few times during warranty very good service but maybe thats why Ive found they are the most expensive. Plus if Ive read all the details correctly they appear to be the only ones who offer to take you to your choice of location anywhere in the UK all the others appear to just take you to the nearest garage.

You get what you pay for I suppose.

Thanks for the advice.

NCI is good, (thru MCN) does car and bike and specially bike, some breakdowns aren't equipped with towing bikes, and unlike AA there is no limit on call outs.. AA doesn't recover if accident either, you have to pay that separately, or RAC does an inclusion...

cover as little as 39.99, good for one £60 and if you have Carole Nash insureres they usually can stick breakdown cover on for you aswell...
- its worth bearing in mind tho, if you ALREADY HAVE COVER with someone, and then you renew with Carole Nash or anyone and they say to you, 'you get breakdown cover' ask for that to be knocked off if you don't want it.. It IS extra, not included in the price as they tell you... - or they couldn't knock it off could they?? :)

I use the AA as they cover the policy holder not the vehicle £39 a year Bargain!

so does NCI, and that starts at 39.99 too... if you read AA basic cover for that price tho, it only allows one breakdown a year.... so you're alright unless.....

As MM Says - a point to note is that the AA will charge you to recovery a vehicle following an RTA :flame: (hence I've now switched to the RAC)

Blimey I didnt know that! Gonna check out NCI, funnily enough I picked up MCN today and looked at their ad - far too many options for me :puzzled:
