View Full Version : UPDATE - Well done Scotland

If you don’t like sports that involve balls (sic) of the oval or round variety then read no further ...

Saturday sees the start of that annual ritual that is the cleansing of this land of St George of the barbarous Celts, Gauls and Romans.

I love this time of year ... February is a short month ... my birthday is in February ... summer’s coming and the Six Nations starts for England at 15:30 on Saturday with the humiliation of Wales.

I think England will do well this year .. the test will be Ireland and France. We’ve gotta beat them Gauls but somehow I never mind losing to the Irish – they’re such nice people.

I think the table will end up like this ....

Team Played, Won, Lost
England 5 5 0
Ireland 5 4 1
France 5 3 2
Wales 5 2 3
Italy 5 1 4

Whoops, I forgot the Scots ... don’t care really as long as they come very last. Could they come worse than last is that possible – I do hope so :0

Football’s going well too. Everton back on the up beating Arsenal and holding Chelsea twice although we should have beaten them on Saturday .. don’t think we will progress in the cup next Wednesday though as I’m going and I’ll be the kiss of death as I haven’t seen them win ‘live’ this season :(

Watched the highlights of the Blues running Wigless ragged last night. Pity old Dunc Ferguson didn’t smash up the whole team before walking – typical Scot eh! Don’t ya just luv ‘em

Even my little Reading .. destroying all in their path – I love the way the crowd sing their various little ditties ....

‘We are unbeatable, we are unbeatable’

‘That’s why we’re top of the league’

etc, etc

The annihilation of Norwich last night was just total, Reading should have scored 7. Mind you Norwich could’ve scored a couple .. but they didn’t/couldn’t which is why they’re in a lowly position and Reading are top, certain to be promoted.

I’m massively disappointed that Southumdrum have transferred that d$ckhead Nigel Quashie as I am really look forward to seeing the Saints getting whitewashed a week on Friday.

I dunno loadsa Rugby, loadsa Football and my bike warming up outside ... and all the good weather, rideouts and DSC meets to come, oh ... and my birthday! Did I mention that?

If you’ve read this far and any of my self-indulgent drivel has annoyed you then great – looking forward to a bit of (ball) sporting banter and controversy ...

I don’t know why I’m so happy really ... could it be giving up drinking on New Year’s day.

Last word ... if you don’t like Football, Rugby etc why have you read down to here and ... like I give a t*ss anyway

Thanks Tony ... sorry to hear you had a wet time in Jerez.

Blast you reminded me that I made no mention of 12th November 2005 - another great day for England 26-16 as I recall :rolleye:

Jerez was just one of those things, an expensive holiday where I learned a lot about clutches and suspension :)

Hrmmm ... 12th November .... nope, I've got nothing ... nothing significant happened on that day clearly!

What did you expect when Norwich sold their only goal scorer, one week after the manager said he wasn't going anywhere... :(

Looking Forward to the Welsh repeating their humiliation of allcomers as per last year in the 6 nations I will be at Twickers to lend my support,
Also nice to see Liverpool flying high in the table, more silverware for THE only side in liverpool.......

Sunderland put in another sterling performance last night and only got beat by 3 goals.

Looks like we'll beat our previous record of being the worst Premiership team ever.

Quick pub quiz question for you.

Name the only premiership team to score all 4 goals at home and get beat 3-1?

Answer, my beloved Sunderland.

KEEP THE FAITH.

Interesting Everton how you **** us Porridge Wogs, you love us really.

Jock Manager and big "Drunken Duncan" are the back bone of your team after all.

Any chance of sending the big man back up to Ibrox we could sure as hell be doing with him right now. Someone with a bit of dig who is happy to be sent packing for getting stuck in.

Stirling town centre is very quiet without him kicking off all the time as well.

With this new tagging lark there are plenty of spaces for him in the "Bar L" if he gets sent down again.........

At least supporting Everton you must kick with the right foot which is a good start.

And remember not all Jocks are Haggis Bashers. 40,000 at Ibrox every Saturday waving Union Jacks and singing about being British ain't a bad thing.

"Rule Brittania"

Scotty mate ... you really don't want Dunc now believe me. Love him as I do he's past his sell by date :(

I get a perverse enjoyment I suppose that when he comes on he's generally gonna cause mayhem and any defender less that 6 foot tall is likely to ***** themselves :lol:

btw ...

I suppose I'm an unusual Evertonian cos I'm actually a (very lapsed) left footer. Funnily enough when I watch the old firm game I'm always a Rangers fan (why is that then :puzzled: is it the shirt colour, Paul Gascoigne .. dunno really but I don't like Celtic)

and I love Porridge ... have a big bowl every morning.

Is now the time to reveal that my Grandpa came from Inverness .. oh the shame :(

Jamie McFadden?

David Weir - had his day mate too old & slow - OK for the Scotland squad then

...ah I see a pattern forming as to why we're doing so badly :D

Gary Naysmith - who he - we transferred him didn't we - seriously and to be fair - good player but injuries have meant little sight of him this year :(

I remember that pub! Late 80s early 90s I used to go out with a girl that lived the other side of the road, I think it was called Amyhand rd or something similar? She was a teacher at a little school on the same street and if I remember her house was one of 2? right next to the school? Used to get the train from oop north and sit in the Cabbage patch half the afternoon waiting for her to finish work. Happy times!

It's Amyand Park Road and the school is called St Mary's.

:)

I've been in the Cabbage Patch every now and then ... they've refurbished it recently, it's a nice pub now.

Yes thats the one! Spent many an evening down there but cant remember much about the place, in fact my main memory was her showing me a doorway that was used as the outside of the Winchester club in Minder (tv series). After me she took up with a bloke in the SAS who eventually married her. Got an invite to her wedding and he was ok but his mates were a little scary! Got a xmas card from her and shes still in Hereford with kids now etc. She was pretty fit. Anyway enough of my life story! ;)

Eddie Jones is the Wallabies coach that just got sacked. And they have just appointed John Connoly to the position and his nickname is Knuckles. He's just left the head coaches job in Bath to go home and take that up.

And as for blick, I is not racialist! Innit!

IMHO England's main opposition will be the French and Irish.
England are improving under Robinson, but have some way to go to get near the team that won the world cup.
The French are a class act, but as someone mentioned consistant under achievers, but they can give anyone a game on their day.
The paddy's are also a strong side, but not too good away from Landsdown Road.
The Welsh have lot of injuries this season, but like Ireland, play with great passion, especially when up against England. But as both are at Twickenham this season, it would be hard to see nothing but a home win.
So the big game will be in Paris on sunday 12th march.
Scotland might surprise a few people this year, they are improving.

My winners: France

Player to watch: Frederic Michalak

Aarrrgggghhhhhhhhh.

I've been following Everton since 1965 and also enthusiastically supporting my local team (Reading) since I moved here in 1985.

Ive been from Anfield & St James Park to St Mary's & Ninian Park - the length and breadth of England supporting these two fine teams - I've even been to places like Ibrox, Celtic Park and Pittodrie to sample the sweaty roar whilst working in Scotland. On 99% of my travels I never suffered any harassment from the home supporters - the odd stupidity maybe ....

... however, the worst experience I ever encountered was at that sh*th0le known as Molineux a couple of years ago when Reading played their first leg for the play-offs there.

We were truly treated like shite, spat on, p!ssed on you name it ... from so called football supporters above is in the stand.

I'll never go there again - whatever reason!!

I've been to Millwall several times - New and Old Den and been treated like royalty there in comparison

Sorry always wanted to sound off to a Wolves fan about that. I did write to Wolverhampton Wanderers to complain after that game but ... you've guessed it ... never got a reply :(

Oh dear, I knew someone would take offence. Sorry to hear about your last trip to molineux. But you won't have to do it next season!

Good luck to Reading, they have done superb this season and deserve promotion.

Keep in touch about this though - how old is your son. A friend of mine has two season tickets, one adult, one under 16 (although that doesn't really matter as you can upgrade on the day). They're in the east stand corner (you get a great view everywhere in the Mad Stad) and he only goes to 1 out of 2 games so they may be free especially if he goes to Twickenham that day also.

So it's the Italians next ...

Will England break 100 points?

Will Wales recover - have the Scots had their day?

Will France lose their way again - this time the Irish to run amock?

The weekend can't come quickly enough for me.

Everton to slam Balckburn

Reading to push the south coast's second team Scumhumpton further towards Coca Cola Div 1 - Reading WILL get promoted and Southampton WILL get relegated - you heard it here first - so Pompey miss out playing them for another season :lol::lol:

Unless England play an absolute blinder, I reckon it will be tight until half time. Then, if we're lucky, we'll pull away a bit. Italy have given us a couple of scares before, and they're going to be majorly pi55ed off after Ireland's dodgy win.
