Recommendations for 916 Battery?

I'll spare a long post, with the background as to why I have another dead battery, but before purchasing yet another OE / Yuasa(?) battery, are there any top recommendations for alternatives?

The bike's a very early 916, so I've always stuck with the OE specification lead / acid setup.

Could be very tempted with something smaller, lighter and consideratbly more reliable (given that the bike isn't in 'regular' use (although trickle-charged).

Give the lads at MDS battery a call they sorted me a slightly larger capacity battery for a few different bikes now...

As frank say's or I have been using a smaller gel on the 996 for the last two years with no issues. Ebay about £40.

Ive been using a yuasa YTZ7S. Its fitted to the current model fireblade and is tiny.
ive found that if its kept in good order on an optimate charger it starts both 748 and 916 equally well.
