Is that possible???? I spent hours and hours (at least 2) trying to sort that bl00dy thing out (so that I couldn't watch any rubbish rugby game happening in Scotland... )

I got the bolt at the bottom and then I put the fork leg in boiling water (at least very hot water) to unscrew it (I read that on the UKMOC board) but no way.

Has anybody done that before???

Senna3 has done two sets and will probably be doing a 3rd set later today.
I lent him a old CBR600 bottom yoke which is 41mm and he shimmed it down to 40mm to clamp the 600SS fork leg firmly then with a lot of leverage by way of a bar through the spindle hole and warming it up he managed to work the fork lowers off.

Yup, just done the same myself. Only heat the fork bottom not the whole assembly. Use a heat gun if possible.

cheers guys.
Would you reckon it's possible to do it using a kettle instead of the heat gun?

Btw, where does Senna3 live?

Don't see why it wouldn't be possible to submerse the fork bottom in boiling water. You'll have to change the water a few times as the fork bottom will act like a heat sink.

You'll struggle with a kettle. Go with the heat gun like Felix mentions. Once it's hot enough they come off easy.

I did mine on the portable gas heater that you tend to need this time of year in the garage anyway. Well, at least here up north.;)
