The parachutist. This was a well publicised incident at the time, and was used to fuel a lot of debate that us weekend warriors (PPL's) were an indisciplined bunch that flew pretty well wherever we wanted to, busting into other folks airspace whenever we saw fit.

I seem to remember that on this occasion, the jumpers were dropping into some function in open airspace and had not told anyone, so nobody except them knew what they were up to.

Had the two collided, it would have made an interesting case, as there was very little chance for the Chipmunk pilot to spot the jumper, and even less to move out of the way quicklly enough. It was frightening to see just how fast the speck became an aircraft!

Well in marine law the motor powerd craft has to give way to wind powered but here I'm not sure.
