I am currently half way through building my system, and have a couple of questions:

1.I only have mm to spare where the exhaust runs through the swingarm-is this normal?

2.Is there an alternative heat shield that fits the 50mm pipes?

Thanks, any pics would be appreciated.Especially the joint in the swing arm area.

Jasper, that clearance is normal- and as far as I'm aware there isn't a heat shield available for the spags.
The solution on some works bikes was to run an airtube from underneath the battery and route it onto the exhaust and shock, not sure how effective this was though.
You could always weld a couple of bosses onto the exhaust and fit up an SP type carbon heat shield ??
cheers

Neil

Neil i have the SP shield off the SP5,and i can "modify it" or make a new one.Just wondered if there was actually a "proper" one out there. When i've finished, it will be pc111/dyno time and i will give you a shout.

there is no heat shield standard, i run the fibreglass type heat wrap and it seems to work o.k. one major problem (especially here in oz) is the termi system is so light, it's thin wall stainless, the heat radiates out something fierce! i've come back from a ride with small blisters on the back of my left thigh, and that's through jeans. also, mine is the "daytona 48mm" system and the only way to get the rear header pipe in was to unhook the swingarm from the hoop. a std sp5 system will just squeeze in but the spaghetti just won't go.:burn:

Ah Paul, that would be Bevo's camp then. Yes picked up the hugger today. Thanks man. Had to fix Bevans puter.
How was I supposed to know it was you?

Lovely weather? Hot here, tyres wear real quick, and stopping at traffic lights, puts you in danger of heat stroke.

To you motherland lot. We have bike shop turf wars here. Unfortunately for me they are both my mates. Very tricky.
