Your mood says "One way ticket to hell and back"

Surely a one ticket would only be to hell only, otherwise you've booked a return?

Ahhhh...but isn't something that only goes to somewhere only a double infinitive and therefore a return trip?

Or is that only on certain planets like the one I'm one

Nah ... you'll be thinking of a certain low cost airline 'exposed' on TV the other night

Shaun, it looks to me as though you're the one who needs a trip somewhere, anywhere, just get away from the computer and stop reading every last flipping word on here!:devil::devil::devil:

And what on earth does your 'mood' mean??

Or he could be listening to the latest (crap IMO) Darkness album. It was like a round trip listening to that!

I desperately need a trip round France on the bike, some warm dry salt free roads.

Ha kettle calling pot here, me thinks reading moods yourself:lol:

The reference to 10 points is Sunderlands points tally in the premiership, so things are getting better but i don't think mathmatically we can overhaul Chelsea to win the premiership.

The first line hit me like a kick in the face,
but I thought I'd better have another one, just in case.
Next thing I knew my heart was under attack,
I'd bought a one way ticket to hell ... and back!

Best one is Growing On Me ...

Which is even better when you realise it's about STDs and read it again!

Have to agree that the second album is not as good as the first - the Roy Thomas Baker production really shows through and it's painful to listen to this and then something like Queen's Greatest Hits. *shudder*

Nowhere near as good as Permission, but we'll see what happens next.

Rock On the Lowey Boys!

Doh! F*in' football. :flame:
Now that information, reading it and probably half remembering it for a couple of hours, just uses up vitally needed brain cells. I'm already in a precarious situation as I've destroyed such vast numbers with my drinking! I need all my brain cells for my next set of law exams next week!

Speaking of France, what do you reckon is the best touring bike, with paniers, that I could manage, BDG? Starting to think about possibly chopping the 996 for a tourer and taking myself off to Europe - and not just because you're thinking of going, either
;):devil::P

Get an ST....you know it makes sense, and if you're going to ride it mainly in Europe, make sure that you get a left hand drive one!

Was looking at the ST3s on Ducati Aylesbury's website yesterday. But I was wondering whether that's sensible or would a BMW or Jap bike be more easily fixed in the event of a breakdown roadside in foreign countries (not by me, you understand)? Or is it fair enough to expect a bike costing £4K ish to be reliable enough for a 3 week holiday in Europe? As usual, just mulling at present and will be doing more research if/when I decide I can bear to part with the 996. So far, all atempts to break the umbillical cord have failed. :D:D

Metaphorical slap round the head woman.....just use the 996 for touring, haven't you read my numerous ramblings on the subject.

Stick some helibars on if you want to improve the comfort and maybe a higher screen. You DO NOT need panniers. if it doesn't fit in a Ventura don't take it. You'll only tour on it once or twice a year and think of all the fun you'll have the rest of the year on the 996, and how pretty it looks.

If you do decide you need a touring bike then the choice is endless, but an ST2/3/4/4S are all good choices along with a multitude of Jap things. If you do go Japanese then a VFR 750/800 is a good choice but i don't like the Vtec 800, the earlier 800 or late 750's are far better in my overbearing conceited opinion.

You know perfectly well I've read every word of your posts and articles in Pronto about touring, Shaun. But I'm thinking comfort here. Even with helibars I can't imagine covering 5 or 600 miles a day on the 996. It's too physically wearing. I need an hour in the bath after a BHC rideout, for god's sake. If I wanted to kn@cker myself out on holiday, I'd go by pushbike!

Your 'overbearing conceited opinion', however, is very useful and I shall consider all of the points you raise. Thanks :D:D

Simple answer is don't do 5 or 600 miles a day, do what you're happy with, and stay off motorways, 996's are far better on twisty roads.

Hot baths and red wine do wonders for fatigue at the end of the day.

If not, its either the ST/VFR route, but do you really want one for 1 trip a year? The ST's are miles more fun than VFR's but although i haven't suffered any probs with my ST's in the past, if you do have any worries about the reliability of a used ST and its history and that is a big concern for you then try a VFR.

Why not keep the 996, flog the Monster and have a VFR as a tourer come winter hack. Decent VFR's can be had for reasonable money.

Actually, I might be going touring in France this year, having not done it last year because of the racing. The dates don't clash with DD so I may well be going...
