View Full Version : If money was no object, what would you have?????????

Doesn`t really apply to me as money is an object, and there might be a thread like this somewhere else on the site, but I haven`t seen it.

I imagine some of us on here have our dream bikes, but if money was no object, what would you have?

Myself I like brutal and querky bikes, that`s why I had the 888,it`s the most brutal looking of all ducati sport bikes IMHO(I don`t go for sexy swoopy bikes ie 9*6/748 as great as they are, they`re just not my taste),and my Multistrada sure was querky:lol:

I also like different bikes, that`s why I bought a Ducati, when I got my first Duke all my mates where riding Fireblades,ZX`s and Gixers, now all my mates ride Ducatis!!

So what would you have if you could only have one bike and money was no object(let`s just keep to bikes,no cars, helicopters or lea jets please) and see if anyone comes up with the same as me:D

PS Dodgy,you can`t play:P

Er i have one of mine already, but next one has to be a RC45 just to see how it compares. Am sure it will be quicker but i suspect the 30 has the edge in rawness.
At the risk of getting shot, i also do actually use my RC30 too, here is a pic from a ride out today. It was worse after following a few wagons throwing mud and allsorts at me, but the following 40 miles of rain and road salt washed off the worst

*** ducks and runs for cover ***

RobB & Dibble, if you get the chance of one get it bought. not only is it a safe investment, but they are great fun to ride. I have ridden quite a bit of new stuff and still believe that 100 bhp on the road in a good chassis is more than enough and makes sound sense as a road bike. these are just superb fun and the best bit is, no one batts an eyelid at you, a real street sleeper as its just another 400 but it sure shocks a few people as you howl past playing the V4 orchestra. Beg or borrow if you have to, if you dont take to it you can sell it on easily and command your own price to a certain extent too

Sparkin, i know mate and i know how lucky i am. I dont earn vast sums of money, but i save and spend as much as poss on what gives me the most pleasure. I have wanted one for years and after all the NC30's it was the icing on the cake, i had the chance of one and took it. It put me 7k in the red, and still am 2.5k 12 months on but you only live once and it would probably be the only chance in my life to get one and i dont regret it for an instant. I feel quilty rabbiting on about them, but everyone who rides one / mine goes the same way. Its just one of those bikes that on paper is not exactly great, but in reality its superb. more than the sum of its parts, it just seems to work so well. I guess thats why they are so sought after even today.
I am a lucky git to have one, but i am paying the price though. 99% of people just couldnt commit to owing one, each to our own i guess

Funny that my mates owns that ex-Hizzy bike could be yours for about 16K!

For me... maybe RCV211, Desmocedici GP6 maybe? I'd love Bayliss's F06 though

Twinfan
27-Feb-2006, 14:34
JPM - how many "ex-Hizzy" bikes are in existence then? There's one in the Hizzy exhibition in Hawick, and Paul Bird has/had one outside his hospitality unit last season. Does you rmate own one of them, or does he have a third? There can only be two, surely????

JPM
27-Feb-2006, 14:38
No idea, got his name on the yokes, and he had the forks rebuilt and Ken at K-Tech recognised them as being off his bike as he'd built them initially. Also engraved on the casings too, I know it's first owner was a certain Neil Hodgson before Hizzy got his hands on it.

Are you serious? Money no object and only one bike, not a great big feck-off garage/workshop full?

Hmmmm.... it would have to do everything well wouldn't it. It would have to tour, be a good road bike, it would have to scratch and do trackdays. Well, it might be a boring choice but an ST4S (pre-barn door fairing) tuned and tastefully blinged would have to be close.

But I'll have an 888 SPS in the conservatory please and a 749R in the lounge and a Monster S2 1000 in the kitchen

ali
27-Feb-2006, 15:15
Supermono, Millona NCR, RC30, 998R, Britten. If money really was no option then I'm sure I'd have at least 50 bikes, and probably the same number of cars.

I find it almost physically painful that I can't own and ride all those bikes, but I love the SL and racing is the best possible way to spend your time on two wheels, so I can live without them for the moment......

You`re entering into the spirit of it now Jools me old mate, there`s lots of bikes we`d all like to have, but if you only had one to do all them things on, the ST4s would be a good choice, but not everyone has trackdays or commuting in there criteria for instance..................................

As for my monster, the main gripe was comfort,no ground clearence with standard footrests, ruddy uncomfortable with rearsets:(
Was plenty quick enough mind you, tried the newer framed ones S2r/S4r and they seem a lot more comfy.

Still need to sell the T8 first.......but glad I`m keeping you amused :D

Only one bike? Sounds a bit sad but it would have to be the Multistrada! I know it sounds a boring choice but for me I can do what I enjoy on it. Sure it would be nice to have a full on race bike sat there but thats exactly what it would be doing most of the time just sitting there. It would have to be able to be used as often as I wanted to use it. Its something I can get up on a Sunday morning and ride all day. Thats what its all about for me.

Now let me see,

I would have some sort of nasty 2 stroke. Such as a 500 GP bike, maybe the RGV500 or perhaps the NSR500.

I would really need some sort of mordern race bike such as the Ducati GP bike.

And then I would have a Vincent Black lightning.:devil: The Britten V twin is another one I would like.

Oh a some nice little tricked up Ducati 996 or 998 just to pootle about on.;)
