i Haven't yet talked to my mate Simon Knowlson, but it looks like the winters upgrades to his 748RS have paid off.

He is running his 748RS in the very competitive North Glos Open formula 600 championship.
On saturday he finished the Quallifier in 6th place and the points race in 4th
On Sunday he finished the quallifier in 4th place and the points race also in 4th.
This has left him in 3rd place in the championship after the first to rounds.
Not bad for a ageing Italian twin against the latest multis from the land of the rising sun
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Simon's best race lap of the weekend was a 1m 2.34s lap which would have put him second in any of the SoT races as the only SoT rider to better that time was the SoT championship leader was Mark Compton

Kev,

I didn't see Simon at the weekend but that is a fantastic result!

Just had a good chat with Simon and to say he is very pleased with how the 748 performed would be a understatement.
He really rated the upgrade to the four pad calipers and thought they were the best of the winter investments closely followed by the ball bearing slipper clutch replacing the standard ramp only slipper.
Tyres used were the treaded Dunlop 209s which he says have massive amounts of side grip but feel a bit nervous when upright.
As Pembrey is a short track he found he wasn't using 6th gear and was keeping revs down to below 11000 rpm.
After speaking to him I thought it woud be nice to go along to the next round at Donington but I will have to give it a miss as its the day before we are at Brands for the Desmo Due races

Long live the 748RS :burn:

Top result. I might contest a few rounds of the SoT on my 800ss...most likely Pembrey.

my September lap times on my 583 would have been good enough for 3rd in Minitwins, not that I would get it around Pembrey that fast at this time of year, but bodes well for the 750SSie with its extra 13 or so bhp

I lapped in 1:04 in 2004, 1:04.998 last year on the SV. Enough for a 6th or a 7th on SoT. What were the lap times at the weekend?

I am expecting the 800ss to give me another 1-2 secs per lap thanks to the extra grunt and superior chassis.
