Hi
first of the mods planned for my 749R

Glad its gone to a good home.
Nice. I like the approach. I'm going for function over form with any upgrades I do, with a little bit of subtle and trick but hopefully much better performance ie: Uprated brakes etc...

This seat unit is a cracker.
http://www.hcracetech.co.uk/10420/info.php?p=6&pno=0
Chris.
The LED conversion looks similar to one I got from Busters Accessories. I found that the holes in the replacement lens were too narrow and need to be reemed out, the fit was also crap. Also, the wiring instructions were wrong and had been reversed. ie the stop light was actually the tail-light and vice versa.

23-Mar-2006, 20:41
Lights from Jamie @ Project-R, all fit fine but just my original housing is buggered !
What I am after:
2005 Shape Carbon top nosecone with headlamp holes or another 2004 Carbon 749/999R top fairing to paint
Carbon Mirror Casings
Corse style rearsets as per Stu Eastons race bike
Braking or Galfer Wavey front n rear discs
Power commander & quickshifter kit
the riding ability of Greg Lavilla...LOL

See you have the riders underslung caliper mod. Also have this on my 749r. Andy B also has one on his 999.
Word or warning ... supplied brake hose is too short  you need one that is around 750mm plus or minus a touch.
Sharpy G
23-Mar-2006, 21:01
did they change the hose for you ?
mine says Goodridge SB30575CL on the pack
and is about 620mm end to end of hose

Could not be arsed to mess around, bought a new braided one local today for £15. Will probably put the one that came with the kit on e-bay.
By all means see how you get on, but, I do know Andy B had the same problem. Just allow for having to get a longer hoses when you try to fit the bracket.

Come on Dougal,
give him a break, it wasn't exactly a pristene example of a tank was it ?
he did get loadsa grief with it reacting all over the place, I saw him paint it at least 4 times, he was tearing his hair out over it !
he could have given it back before looking poo, but he didn't did he ?
sometimes I have had things take longer, but he has always done a cracking job on my stuff so I can't complain
Post a pic of the Triton so I can see it m8

front 04 carbon fairing with numberboard painted on, front carbon mudguard and carbon mirror cowels nearly ready, just some final polishing to be done.
Jason took the original paint on the top wings of the nosecone back to bare carbon and then faded into white numberboard - looks good !
outer stripes on front mudguard & returns on edges are bare laquered carbon also, along with mirrors having the return slope to the fairing in red and the rest bare laquered carbon

you are correct with the standard plastic fairings, 03/04 (with vents) is narrower than 05/06 (without vents) so longer 'ears' needed to fit later top

what have you got Loz ?
Not a lot, Graham!
I've just got the standard 999 twist grip, which is fine for pootling ... but it's a real pain on trackdays and some of the more spirited Sunday Morning Runs I've been on. The single cable conversion has never appealed to me, but now I know that there's a quick-action twin-cable version ... ooooohh!
Anyway, the next purchase for the 999 I make is earmarked for your attention (you may recall). But before that, I need to pay for my 750 re-build, a service for the 750 and a service for the car. :(

I too talked to Pro-Twins about the single cable conversion, was put off as they 'reprofile the throttle cams' or similar which makes the change irreversible ??
So this twistgrip sound ideal.
As a complete numpty could someone tell me how hard it would be to fit ( i have the workshop manual and only today changed my rear brake pads but its been a VERY long time since i was in any way handy with a spanner !)
Steve
Sharpy G
15-Nov-2006, 13:46
shouldn't be too bad from what I can see as the throttle unit is separate from the switch gear.
just 2 bolts and some cable jiggling I think
but I stand to be corrected/advised

Unless Pro-Twins have changed their throttle mod, they simply replace the throttle on the 749/999 with one off a 996, hence the single cable. It also requires a longer cable. I believe the parts are approx £70. The rest is labour.
ive had mine done on the 999.i bought me a 996 twist grip then as the 996 cable is to short i used my 999 cable,i took it to a local cable maker who replaced the inner cable & fitted the adjuster into the 996 twistgrip. the 999 cable has a plastic inner which makes the action smooth,it as i want it now but its all down to what works for you, total cost? around £20-£30 for 996 twistgrip, cable rework was £10. i belive pro v twins use a rs cable.
From memory its about £200 for the pro twins mod including labour. I converted mine to one from these guys.
http://www.evoluzione.net/
uses the existing cables and is easy to fit. Does not shorten the throw by much though. Main feature is a non linear cam so throttle opening rate at low engine speed is reduced, but increased from the midway point in the rev range. So good for pootling round town, and pushing out of bends

Nice paint work but you still can`t make a silk purse out of a sow`s ear!
Hmmm,...I gotta get me one of those 'zorsts.
Corse rearset..........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/Sharpy_G/P1010907.jpg
Be careful not to leave out those spacers when mounting the rear sets.
Don't know if those spangly corse hangers are more offset, but standard ones will foul that bling pipework!
(And I still want them!!!!!!!!!!!)
Graham, my, sorry your exhaust looks great on the bike, it's only took you about 4 months to fit it !!!!
Them rearsets look great too, all you need is a small piece of carbon to fit on to the top exhaust shield bracket that will tuck down behind the rearset carbon shield.
Got some more carbon for my bike today, it is like rocky horse **** to get hold of,still waiting for other bits, pictures of my bling to follow.
By the way, what camera do you use for your photos, mine are **** with my digital, was going to buy a new one in Tenerife last week but they were more expensive than here. Saw you had a digital for sale before I left, have you got a new one now.

tbh I prefer the jhp one. Theres something that fascinates me about an unfeasable amount of attention, care and bling on 749/999.
I can admire bling on all bikes but i think these are a bit special.
Beautiful bike sharpy.
