Hi,
Hopefully not a silly question but can anyone give me an idea of what an R reg 600ss, with accident damage, with nearly 17000 miles on the clock with nothing in the service book since 1998 and no way of knowing whether any servicing was done to it recently or since 98, needing a new seat covering possibly the whole seat, smashed front headlight, split and damaged front and side fairing, smashed indicator, smashed mirror and internals (casing still intact), missing front brake lever, badly bent rear brake lever, an exhaust which has taken a knock but not too bad but I think the bracket might be bent. This is all I actually saw without taking bits off the bike to have a closer look...phew...would/should sell for?
In fact maybe the question should be what would an undamaged one sell for?
Any info would be great.
Cheers

The ones that I've seen - and that's not many can sell for between 600 and 2000. This one seems to be at the lower end of the range ;)

I would think that the damage would write it off.
Not really that up on 600ss's but i think i've seen mintish ones on ebay for around £1000-£1200.

£600 at most for that.

£900 is way too much if its written off! Ants £600 sounds closer to the mark.
any monster or ss over 6 years old which is crashed or non runner i wont offer more than £500 as not worth putting back together if paying more. as griff says you can get runners for 900 to 1200 in good cond with service history too.
walk away franco it could be more trouble then you think
to add that we brought the snot the 583 monster in jan 2005 for under £1000 and that was a 2001 reg bike.
high mileage as in 18000 and missed the last service but ran fine and passed an mot 2 days after we got her. now in 2nd year of racing.
Im really no expert, but id say its too much at 900.
Mine was about a grand and also is an R plate, but with 24k, 5 years history, full mot and in very good condition.
My 2 pennneth worth

Thanks for all the advice. I have to say that i offered £700 to the guy and he turned me down flat saying that a trader has offered the same money and they don't even want to see it. Clearly he is trying to say that he is expecting more money from a private buyer. He must also have seen these ads on auto trader where people are selling a couple for £1800 - £2000 - so he thinks that he is selling for half price or something - who knows. See These: http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/bikes_search.asp?nU=0&make=DUCATI&model=600&ccappr=&min_pr=75&postcode=HA4%200PQ&miles=40&max_records=50&modelexact=1&photo=1
My intention would be to race it in the DD and put my monster back on the road as I much prefer the riding position of the ss to the monster. Nobody know of anything going cheap?
Cheers again

The world must have truly gone barmy then. Look how much this breaker wants for this 750...

Franco what they advertise for is not what is often sold for.
a good one will fetch £12-1600.
Since the dd started there seem to be lots jumping on the bandwagon for the 600s.
walk away mate it is a scrapper or parts bike.
I wouldnt take a chance myself and i like working on rebuilding heaps of scrap.

Cheers Alan. Bizarrely the guy described it as needing a bit of TLC!!! After he flatly turned down the £700 I did walk away but I thought it would be a good idea to poll some opinion here to make sure I have done the right thing and it looks like I have :D
