I've just bought a 750ss and the front forks are pitted beyond belief. Aside from buying new fork tubes (£206) or getting them replated (equally expensive) I've also been looking at 2nd hand forks.
I noticed that the 900ss has the 41mm adjustable showa forks. As the 750ss has 40mm forks what needs to be changed to allow the 41mm forks to fit? I assume it's only the yokes which I can get machined out to the new size.
Cheers!

I think you will find they will fit in your yokes, but the front wheel spindle is a different size up from 20mm on the 750SS to 25mm on the 900SS, you can change your wheel bearings and spacer but I think there is a fitment issue with the speedo drive, ideally you would want the front wheel, spindle and speedo drive as well as the forks

Spindle size on the 900 varied with age. Early ones, up to '94 or sp (?) were 17mm. From then until around '97/98 they went to 20mm, the same as your 750. What you need for a straight drop in job then is a set of 900 SS (or SL) forks from '95 to '98.

The 17 and 20mm spindles are interchangeable, as long as you change the threaded insert in the lefthand leg too.
So basically if you get forks that had a solid rather than hollow spindle you can keep your wheel, speedo drive etc.
