The bearing in the end of the input shaft needs changing on my 900ss. Its the small needle bearing that the clutch push rod goes through before it seats in the pressure plate bearing.
Mine has exploded into loads of tiny needles in the clutch housing.
I can see the remains of the bearing in the end of the input shaft, but have no idea how to remove whats left.
So far I have the push rod out the pressure plate and all clutch plates out. Just leaving the inner and outer clutch baskets attached. But having a good look at the end of the input shaft I cannot see how the bearing is removed.
Does the big nut holding the inner basket have to be removed also ?
HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP
Thanks Kev

For some really good engine / parts diagrams try a download for here:

http://www.duc.nu/manuals/files.php?&file=Parts_Catalog_SS.pdf&sort=Date&skip=0&show=500

Page 11 shows the clutch in its entireity.

Its look like item 14 might be the bearings thats gone walkabouts.

I'd be interested to know of your learnings / progress.

Frank

ps - try and take lots of digi pics if possible, always good to have something to look at for the rebuild!
