View Full Version : 1000ss motor on eBay - I wish but, the price!
1000ss motor (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DUCATI-ENGINE-1000DS-ONLY-3500-MILES-04-BIKE_W0QQitemZ8068182309QQcategoryZ10448QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem)
Just the job for slotting in my 800 for Thunderbikes between minitwin races....but, the price seems a bit eye-watering to me.
:o
I've been waiting for one to come up for ages, but there's no way I'd pay anything like that! :o Would consider going up to about £1k complete so it looks like I'm going to be waiting a while...
I'm not sure it's even any use without the clocks as well.

But conversely, they sold me the deep brace ally swing-arm for £30 which, I thought was a bargain. Go figure.

It should run quite happily with an FIM ecu. Unfortunately that pushes the cost to £2000!

You bought a 1000DS swingarm for £30!???? :o B*stard!
I did. That's 3 I have now :D
Two spares for racing in case they get bent. Like rocking horse droppings they are.
that's well over priced.
I got a 996 lump with loom and injectors for a £1000
may be worth contacting them with a offer, as I will be surprised if anyone bids on it
They ain't gonna knock off about 800 quid tho'. Are they?
I reckon it's worth about £800-£900 tops.

I'd say that's about right, depending on what the score is with clocks/keys. Given what they sell swingarms for I'd say they'd bite your arm off!

Got to be worth making them an offer .... what's the worse they can say, "No"
I've picked up quite a few bargains by offering what I thought something was worth rather than offering the high asking price.
I sent them an e-mail offering to buy the whole bike if it wasn't bent-but they replied saying they had sold most of it-I guess the engine is mainly what they have left-at that price I'm not surprised.
