Race websites for you...

Inspired by frog boy Antoine's nice clean website, I have been searching for a suitable blog/CMS to run a similar site. I run a few websites for other racers, but I've always done it the hard way. It would be easier for all of us if they could update their own sites and these PHP blog things are brill for that - I'll then just fix their feck ups.

Anyway, my new website (which I'm still updating from the old one) is www.domski.co.uk and if you can post on a forum, you can update your own website with pictures and reports etc. As well as links to your sponsors etc.

Now, I think it's pretty simple to set these up, and for approx £20* you can have one too. It's about £1 a month ish for the hosting, so I'd be setting it up for you for just £8. This aint a business idea!!!

I can set up all the initial settings, categories, main banner image, links etc. and then you can start filling it with reports etc.

Everything is customisable and pretty simple to figure out. I will leave that to you though - although can advise or point you in the right direction.

What you will get is a domain like ukracer.net/domski or ukracer.net/knightroadracing whatever you want. You could also buy your own domain name if you wanted something like yourname.com and then point that at your ukracer webspace.

I can also do this on ddracer.com if you prefer that domain over ukracer.net

Would anyone be interested in this???

I'm just sorting webspace for 5 new sites and the domain ukracer.net(will cost me £5 a month). I can upgrade at anytime should more people be interested.

*The £20 would be for first 12 months, then £12 a year after that - just to cover hosting costs.

OK, some answers to get me on the way...

1. Which domain would you prefer? ddracer.com/yourname or ukracer.net/yourname
2. What would you like your site/blog to be called? Mine is ddracer.com/domski
3. Please email me a nice big, high res pic which I can crop down to use as your banner for the site - or you can make your own as long as it's now wider than 704 pixels and no higher than about 180 pixels (the one on my site is 704x174 pixels).

I will set up the main menu as follows...

Latest News - Where you can post all your news/reports. The will be the main bit.
Results - Can be linked to the Results section on the ddracer site - or you can post your own in there?
Points- Can be linked to the specific page on Tonio's site, or to the official Excel spreadsheet - or left for you to post.
Sponsors - Where you can write about your sponsors.

Now, if you don't want certain bits (or you want other categories), that's fine just say let me know before I've finished and I'll leave them out or put them in for you (and/or tell you how to delete/add them).

It is pretty straightforward for you to edit this once it's going - should you ever change your mind.

Posting up your news and pics is very straightforward, and providing you don't completely destroy the backed (of the site) you can pretty much and and delete categories and stuff to your hearts content.
