My 749r suited and booted in it's track day body work ready for it's first track day at Mallory tomorrow :D

Chance to scrub the new tyres in and reduce the chicken strips :lol:

180 rear, 120 front Diablo Corsa :confused:

Have to have something to take the little lady out in :lol:

As for colour's ... both toys are shiny red with black wheels .... and that's how they are staying :rolleyes:

Panels are QB Carbon red gell coat panels that I have polished with Mer. Great if they get marked as they still show red rather than a paint under coat.

They are designed for a 2003 749/999 (used them on my last 749s) with grey swing arm so had to cut some of the belly pan away to clear the new style arm. Also had to enlarge the side stand cut out a little. Final mod was to drill new holes for the top fairing to pick up the holes in the mirror support's as the 2004 fairing is wider and flatter. Now it's all "fitted" I can do a full swap from road to track kit in 45 mins.

Side bungs are the R&G type that pick up on the engine mounts and frame. I leave the brackets (no bungs) on when I put the road kit back on.

Looks like it's gunna be quite warm with a chance of a shower or two.

Tyre pressures...

Front and rear 30/30 and adjust according to wear and feel.

Yep I agree with Dom (ooerr)

I ran same pressures on mine But I have a diablo corsa front and standard Diablo rear, it would spin up on corner exit (not like Rossi) but it always felt OK.

Guys, thanks for the advice on the tyre pressures.

Will try 30 in both.

Looks like quite a dry day, really looking forward to it.

Dont forget to do your tyre pressures cold, first thing!

I checked mine again after a couple sessions and with the heat the pressure rose by 6 psi :lol: :lol:

Thats why you do it cold! With the extra heat generated on track it could go up double that!!

Just received a couple of weeks ago same full body kit from QB for my 999r, but yet to find the hours to sort and fit it, fearing the worst...nothing happens easily or quickly when working on...one question - would be grateful to know if the front & rear number boards are sprayed on, or are they stuck on? Guide on cost would be much appreciated if the former, and if the latter, a tel. no./ website / e-mail address would also be much appreciated.

Number boards are decals, front and rear.

Speak to Ted or Graham at Image Works. Can't remember the cost, but, cheaper than a decent paint job.

Didn't have you down as a 911 man...... Should have guessed... you clearly have taste!.....................I remember the heady days last year of owning one of the last five SC Sports ever made.......sold it to give the cash to Mr Brown for Stamp Duty.....sounds like a fare swap not!!

I left school in 1984 and 1 thing that sticks in my mind was the yuppies buying guards red 911's with their bonus. Always loved the 911 and always wanted one, hence a tidy (ish) 1986 911 Carrera bought in 2002 and still owned today (just).

True mechanical sports car - no power steering, no air con, no traction control, no ABS. But it does have full leather interior, elec seats, elec mirrors and an engine to die for. The sound of a flat six starting to wail through twin 3 1/2" pipes at 3,000rpm almost compares to the bike :)

For me it's the closest car I've had to riding a bike. In a line of traffic, see a small gap, down 1 or 2 gears, flick, accelarate and back in ... just like you would on a bike. Accelarate through corners and the feedback is great .... of course dry weather only. Done a few 360 degree spins in the wet :eek: :D
