Well... i've now had the new bike a little while and we're getting used to one another...
So how is it... well... if i'm honest... it's superb...... Spent a few hours last week trying different suspension settings and it now handles pretty much exactly how i want it to... Got a couple of more tweaks to try but i'm 99% there...
Power... well.... it's simply fantastic.... Tried some top gear roll-ons on M'way with Crust... and it totally devestated his bike....
Brakes are not as good as the P4's i had... but equal to the standard 4pots IMO... which isn't bad really is it :)
Starts first press of the button and the ease of riding around town is really where the bike excells. I can go from 40mph to the limiter in top gear... Going through the Mersey tunnel at the weekend and watching and listening to Crusts 996 spluttering and him being on/off the throttle to hold a constant speed, i must admit it made me have a wry smile.
On the twisties... well.... that's a tough one... i feel lots better on the R1, simply because it masks my ability to keep up with quicker riders :) Crust is a fair bit quicker than me on the road when he's having a go, better lines and smoother... but with the R1, i can stay closer by making up the grouns in seconds on the horses....
So, do i regret the decision to swap from the evocative and passionate 916...
Not in the slightest.
