Azzy's (fellow DSC'r who doesn't log on) needs alloy monoposto subframe for his 2000 996SPS.

Question, are all of the mono sub frames the same, will any mono fit?
please see pic attatched which shows the type of frame with the big computer.

Anyone heard of these subframes cracking before? If you look closely you can see where it has cracked just by the weld underneath the ECU
The bike has been used with Ventura luggage attatched on frequent European trips and ridden by 2 fat *******s. Not at once i hasten to add, 2 seperate owners.

Can't it be welded?

Can't it be welded?

I'm sure it can be welded and this is an option.

Having had a look at my 996R subframe, it already has an additional brace welded on the top of the subframe so i suspect that it may not be the first time the subframes have cracked.

Spinoli, if he buys another i'm sure it'll be up for sale, or were you just joking?

BDG,

Yes, I would be interested in the cracked subframe if it comes up for sale.

Shaun,
The subframe on the SPS is different to your R and to that fitted on the 748R etc.
The SPS uses the P8 ECU and is the only one to do so. Haz' will need to find a SPS one.
I'd get it welded and maybe add a couple of plates in at the same time ;)
