We have a slow action throttle fitted, but you need one of them when you have 92bhp ;)

AS long as you get the action right it don't matter:-)

I'm considering switching to one, just I find when going round left handers It's a bit difficult to twist the throttle back fully, just takes the extra movement out the wrist

You should have plenty of strength in your wrist at your age ;)

How much of a help is a quarter turn throttle going to be over a 1/2 turn throttle?

Save your money and move your hand faster! This is DD, not GP.

You'll be fitting Powercommanders and full systems next!

I think Glyn tried an £12 scooter one on his, wasn't quite 1/8th turn since our carbies are a little bigger than scooter ones but it was shorter than stock if I remember correctly, I'll ask him when he gets back off his hols

Cheap enough to give it a go with anyway

Phil I've a quick action throttle fitted to the 583. The only reason was because the std throttle was a bit knackered and sticking, and I didn't want any prob's with scrutineering. The one fitted to my bike is off an Honda RS 250. If it was fitted to anything bigger than the 583, it would probably have me on my ar$e. Your welcome to have a go on saturday if you think you can control the power (-8

Like anything else in racing it seems to be a personal preference thing.
I have used them regularly as I feel it helps cut down on the "see-sawing"of the suspension between of and on the gas. Mayjust be that I'm ham-fisted, clumsy etc. personal as I say.

I'd like one. I've often found there's a bit more twist left when I thought I was already on the stop.

One controversial thought though... is the throttle considered a "carburetion instrument"? If so then the rules don't allow a 583 to have one. If it's not, then neither Class A of B are allowed them cos the regs don't say you can!
Doubt anyone would give a toss, but it seems like an open door to an easy protest if you upset someone.

Nick I would say they come under hand controls, at least I hope so.

rule 1.4

and rule 1.6.9

so they are allowed Nick:)

surely with a 620 nobody would need to change theirs anyway, as difference is very minimal? just been out in garage to check:D

Nope. Turned out my wrist was on it's stop, not the throttle!

You need a quick action wrist then, nothing wrong with the throttle afterall ;)

I've got a quick action throttle in the post for the 750. At places like snett, you can sometimes not realise that you're not on full throttle until you take a second snatch at it. On a DD bike, that could be crucial.

Everyone that I've spoken to that uses a QAT highly rates them. 100% of punters can't be wrong. Venhill do them for £35

you may need to replace the throttle cable - an R6 one does fine from Venhill, with the correct adjuster for the twistgrip.

or do like I did and buy the QAT from the bmf for a fiver:smug: :smug:

its not really an issue of wether im on full throttle or not ..cos I am lol..so much so that im sure i stretch the cable lol..i suggest that if you are not you better remedy that pronto.!!.lol...............i

its about wrist position and economy of motion..................will get my chief engineer to look at possible candidates for both the race bikes....LOL

I found this to be best on my desmo bike
