... at the V&J Bridgwater open day

The blue and green curves are in 5th gear, the red curve is top gear. Shame it doesn't show RPM though.

Max 115bhp at the wheel = approx 130 at the crank.
Max speed in top gear = 168 mph.

Does this count as one of Harvs poetic hp figures?

It is just a standard '99 996SPS with the termis on and a pipercross air filter. I'm sure the max figures are probably a tad optimistic - I think max bhp is meant to be 123 or 124 bhp according to Ducati?

When these bikes were current, Ducati used to quote rwhp, which was 123bhp. Mine put this out on a couple of dynos, as standard, so I always assumed it was a good example. As a matter of interest, this went up to 130 rwhp with the cam timing adjusted and a power commander

Ohhh - looks like mine might be DOWN on power then :(

Possible, or it might be down to different dyno's, and conditions. If you get bored you might check the cam timing as mine was a mile out. For interest, torque was 80 ft/lb at 8000 rpm

Oiy, its only suppose to be the 999 lot that make up hp figures........

Now now, its only taken 6 years to catch up using that new fangled engine

OK i know it hard to compare different dyno's but my old 2000 SPS managed 120 bhp

David don't be disheartened, using different scales (SAE, DIN ,EC etc) on the same dyno can make about 2% difference depending on which measurement is used.

Not disheartened - it still feels bl**dy fast to me !!

Just seen a Haynes book 'Ducati 916' by Ian Falloon's which lists the specs for all models and says that both the 1999 and 2000 996SPS models made 123bhp at the crank???

No, don't think so - 120 - ish was the power at the wheel (according to my italian Motociclisomo Ducati book.

Never had my SPS dyno'd but (like you David) it feels powerful enough to me.

That's odd - the Ducati Owner's Manual says 123bhp at the crank as well
