View Full Version : Solar Panel for bike
i once saw a solar panel that you can stick on your car dash board and plug into the fag lighter socket, so that whilst your out and about you are slowly topping up your battery. Whenever we seem to go to a race meeting (coincidence im sure) the old gal seems to only just have enough battery to start up and the solar panel seemed a possible solution. Any thoughts

Maybe time for a new battery!

Then the problem is elsewhere. Does it turn over good with a jump-start .
I have a solar panel that I use for trickle charging the bikes and my van. It cost £9.99 from Maplins. It does the job a treat but, it's too big to carry on a bike and is only suitable for trickle charging at around 180mA. It takes days to put any meaningful level of charge into a battery.

Looks like they have raised the price but sounds like a good alternative to an optimate if you don't have a power source in the garage.
If you've tried a new battery, what about all the power cables? Soemthing getting very hot when your cranking??
