Having spent a lot of time and hard work refurbing my marvic two peice wheels I need something to protect the nice shinny surface from mother nature.
The mag centres have been wet painted and look good, pretty hardwaring aswell.
But the ally rims that I have polished look even better, but I think they really need some kind of protection.
Whats the best way of doing this and what should I use.

cheers

Just contacted a mate as regards what laquer he would use, he restores old clocks so he uses stuff to keep polished brass shiny, so pass on info when I get it.

Unless they were anodised, whatever you apply will have to be sprayed or painted on and may need re-applying as you may wear it away when cleaning your wheels.

get them lacquered
otherwise its a case of regular cleaning (polishing)
so as not to allow them to become stained or tarnished

I used to use car wax on the alloy engine cases on my old z900. Worked really well and stopped the oxidation.

I don't do dirt and crime on my ducatis to be honest, Like to ride them as much as possible but still like them to look shinny and cared for.
Dont really believe in sticking them in a case and just looking at them, made to ride and be appreciated in my view.

If I had a crappy runaround I would still like to keep it clean and shinny....
You know what I mean mate...

Yup, or WD40 on a cloth, wipe it on and leave it.

I find Meguiars NXT All Metal Polish very good, £7 from your local Halfrauds.

The blurb, NXT Generation® All Metal Polysh cleans, polishes, and protects all wheels, stainless steel exhausts, chrome air intakes and valve covers, aluminum, brass, copper, silver, and all other bright work components. Meguiar’s Microscopic Diminishing Abrasive Technology (MDAT) removes built-up oxidation, tarnishing, and staining faster and safer than traditional harsh abrasives.
